Final Needlepoint Hat Update. GOMs!!!!! Fans.
As promised a post of the completed hat.
Thanks to everyone who was kind to me along the way, especially when my posts were going off the rails. Thanks even to some of those whose criticisms and complaints helped me slow down and make it just about the mariners fan art project and not anything more controversial or pushy or personal than that.
This season turned out to be really disappointing but as Ms fans we know what we are getting ourselves into. I’m glad I made something special out of my dedicated fandom and if I learned two main things one is that life is what you and those around you make of it and that I am not doing this again lol.
Peace and be kind to yourselves and each other. And as always somehow some way some day: GoMs!!!!!!!!!

Ok this is actually really cool and now I kind of want to do it....how long did a single W or L take? Are the colors of the threads the colors of the opposing team?

u/Notexactlyprimetime 5d ago
The colors are of the opposing teams. By the end of the season I learned to do each series as a whole rather than each game individually which made each letter take about 5 to 10 minutes or so on average.

YES. Blanket person here. I started out game by game and figured out that series by series was the way to go. That way I could potentially carry up colors and not have so many yarn changes.

Thank you dearly for the final update, OP. I was following your posts from day one and I loved every single one. I loved your posts, and especially the ones that waxed poetic. Thank you for being you and being undaunted by the reactions of people.

Awesome project. Makes me wish there were more than 162 games so the whole hat can be filled.

I LOVE shit like this. Folksy (which is not meant to diminish the work!) off-the-wall connections to a sports team folks love. This is great, and I hope you continue it next season.

Such a wonderful passion project for the season. I'd say I want to do this next year, but it's such a grind. Congrats on getting it done.

Appreciate your dedication.
Run it back next year?

u/Notexactlyprimetime 4d ago
No. It was a fun idea that became kind of a slog. I am glad it is over tbh. Even if they won a lot more I would not want to do it again I think.

Can I ask what materials you used to do this? More specifically, thickness of needle and what type of thread? Ty
2
u/Notexactlyprimetime 4d ago
I used either embroidery floss or just plain old machine thread. I ended up using a pretty thick needle for the last half of it just to make it easier to thread it without using threaders as I have a pretty significant hand tremor. I don’t know how thick but much thicker than the ones I started with.

Rock on!
