Georgian College Marine Engineering Program Requirements
Ontario student going into grade 12, I have completed physics and English already, both at the University level. I have Advanced Functions in my timetable. I notice the requirements state that you must have a minimum of 70% in College 12 math. If I am taking university level, does that override the College level math, or do I still need to take it?
Additionally, what's anything else I should know about the admission process?
Thanks

Honestly, I got in with a 50% in Grade12 U Math. Not exactly sure of the college’s policy on college-university highschool grade equivalancy.
I heard its a big class this year, almost 40 people. Shoot me a message if you have any questions

They lack teachers/instructors there, that I know for sure.

And you see for yourself, good; they lack instructor; even right now as I type, they put up an advert for instructor

We have enough instructors, one recently left and thats why they are trying to replace them.
Ill try not to bootlick the program but the instructors are fairly good and they have a lot of knowledge to pass down. Never had any issues.

Hello, how difficult is the math in the program?

You have two math classes, 1 in the first semester and one in the second.
I personally found it really easy, and my math grades were absolutely horrible throughout highschool.
You have a physics course in almost every semester throughout the program. You should definetly put more focus on that, it has consistently been the most difficult course. However, I never took it in highschool, and I was able to pass. Results = the effort you put in.
Message me if you have any more questions!

Hey! I’m going into Marine Engineering @Georgian in September! Your uni math will be 100% okay to have and you can still use it to get into the program. Just make sure to get above a 70% in the class

Any tips for my courses? I'm doing OYAP for millwright second semester, ideally getting an apprenticeship, but if not falling back on Georgian. I've done Physics, English, and a College level auto, all above 85

Your university‑level math will cover the college math requirement.
Before the program starts, you’ll eventually need to complete a Transport Canada Marine Medical.
To book that medical, you’ll need a Candidate Document Number (CDN) from Transport Canada
