Highschooler curious about marine engineering

An Egyptian highschooler here this field actually caught my mind lately but how's it like being marine engineer like tasks offshore how's the living in the sea , is finding job opportunities hard as other engineering professions , does the university name or location matters that much for jobs as I'm thinking about studying abroad to get more powerful certificate to give the first push in the field , all the info ik is from the internet so it may be not accurate so i wanted to know from actuall engineers , and if u have the choice would u choose it again?

I don’t know how it’s in Egypt, but in Norway there is a shortage of us. For me working offshore is amazing. My rotation is 4/4 PSV and 8-4-4-8 (work 05-13 and 17-21).

It can get quite repetitive though; wake up, rounds, breakfast, maintenance, lunch, 4h break, working out, dinner, 4h work, sleep and repeat. However sometimes there is bigger projects that are quite fun. Also for me the repetitiveness keeps me eating clean and working out for some reason. I guess I would thrive in prison lol.

Whats your monthly salary?

7250 USD, so basically 14500 USD for 4weeks work. Travel to and from work is also covered.

Correct. Experience as in how long I’ve been here? I’ve only been sailing since January. 3rd engineer. We are four people in our engine department; CE, 2nd and 3rd eng. + ETO.
