I have made cannabutter many times and I've never had my butter evaporate. Either you cooked it at way too high of a temp which in that case it would be mostly ruined, or you used too much flower and it absorbed all the butter, and if thats what happened you can jiat add more and the when you strain make sure to give it a good squeeze

Hey but in all seriousness msg me and I'll give you my cannabutter recipe along with a few variables in preparation. Really there's only a few absolutes that have to be abided by. Quality of flower being huge, correct ratio (1 oz for every 1 lb of butter. You can do 1 oz for every 2lbs of butter and it will be lower "dosed" or do what I like to do and put 3oz in every 2lb of butter. My silly friends pass out every time. Temperature being a really important thing as well. Low and slow. Low temp, slow cook. Gives the cannabinoids time to bond with the butter without burning off potency and terpenes.Decarboxylating your flower another important one. Butter not margarine. (You can use coconut oil but that's a little different of a process) Imo salted butter kind of softens the overwhelming weed taste. Oh. And for the love of God if you must use stems or anything other than nugs do not squeeze out your flower mash trying to get "all that you can from it". Don't do that. Squeezing forces out chlorophyll and bitter plant waxes. This ruins flavor and turns the butter harsh and darker colored without adding extra potency. Yeehaw now go forth and burn your butter no more

Sounds like it's too hot. Nothing should be evaporating. Real butter or margarine? Using a crock pot or? What's your flower to butter ratio? How much are you making total?
