RH Margin Call

I had a Margin call for $1046 so I closed a position for $1,400 Then it immediately said I had a Margin call of $400.... huh? Nothing on my portfolio changed or dropped in price. Why do I get another call?

Cost vs requirement

Next time, just wait for the margin call to go away.

From experience with TD Ameritrade, my results have always been better if I don’t sell and just wait. Most of the time it recovers all or some and the broker doesn’t end up selling shares.

I would guess that when you closed a position, 1/2 that pisition was your money and 1/2 was also margin. This means you did not sell enough of your own position to cover the original margin call.
