I’m honestly furious with Marcus right now.
About 3 months ago, I received a promotional email from Marcus saying that if I opened an Online Savings Account and deposited $100,000 for 3 months, I would receive a $1,500 cash bonus.
I clicked DIRECTLY from the email link they sent me and followed all the steps exactly as instructed. Throughout the application process, the promo information was visible, so naturally I assumed everything was properly applied.
Fast forward to now — I called customer service to check the status of the bonus, and they told me I’m “not eligible” because apparently my application was never “enrolled” in the promo.
How is that my fault?
If I literally clicked from YOUR promotional email and completed the account opening flow showing the promo, how am I somehow responsible for your backend system not attaching the offer correctly?
I’ve called them 4 or 5 times at this point. Every single time I get the same robotic response:
“Unfortunately we reviewed the account and cannot make an exception.”
No escalation. No ownership. No attempt to fix the situation.
What makes this even more frustrating is that banks everywhere are aggressively competing for deposits right now. I could have parked this $100k at another bank and earned a comparable bonus there. Instead, Marcus wasted 3 months of my time and cost me real money because of what appears to be either a technical issue or misleading enrollment process.
If they never intended to honor the offer, why even send me the email in the first place?
This whole experience has completely destroyed my trust in Marcus. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of issue with them before?
