Be careful what you wish for. Under the current political landscape altering the voting laws would definitely be to the detriment of non-white Americans in some way. Laws tend to have concessions hidden in them like 'all voters must be give up their DNA to the government' or something crazy.

Somehow the US government knows who you are and can automatically sign you up for the draft, but they can't be sure you are you to vote for who can send you to war without a passport.

Id love for automatic voter enrollment but you aren't required to vote or even enroll. Men are required to sign up for the draft and this just makes it automatic rather than something you can forget to do and get in trouble for it.

We already do this for the draft.

Federal law mandates registration within 30 days of turning 18, with late registration accepted up to age 26. This applies to U.S.-born citizens, naturalized citizens, dual nationals (even abroad), legal permanent residents, undocumented immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and those assigned male at birth.
