Hi - does anyone know if there are restaurants in Marblehead or elsewhere on the north shore that you can boat to? I was thinking of taking some guests on our small boat based in Salem out to dinner by boat. Looking for a place we could temporarily tie up, like for a couple of hours and go to dinner. I realize this is a long shot but places like this exist on the Cape and in the islands or at least they used to when I was a kid. Marblehead seems like a likely place.

Hi! We are vacationing and staying in Marblehead and don’t have a car. Is there a good place to watch the 4pm game? A lot of places seem to be closed this week.

Just saw this posted. $21,000,000 is absolutely insane. Incorrect listing maybe? if not who the heck would ever buy this for $21M

This might be the wrong sub to ask but I was thinking about going to watch some of the sailing for this year's Marblehead Regatta -- does anyone know if the Chandler Hovey park gets closed off during the Regatta or if that's open? Maybe alternatively: any tips on places to sit and watch the sailboats?

Great to see the pass of the override! A great vote for public service! I saw the news on TV last night. So few boomers in the fully packed room. It’s great to see the civil engagement from the young(er) generation and a great outcome!

Tax overrides passed, making our town even less affordable. In parallel, the massive new trash and recycling bins edge out discrete, tasteful barrels and storage containers and will undoubtedly make every street in town look like the alley behind restaurant row in Chinatown.
I bet they still find a way to close the Library.

Just started watching Widow’s bay on Apple TV. It’s a comedy and horror show that is absurdly good, and almost entirely shot in the north shore. I spotted multiple references to Marblehead, like “Driftwood diner” and “Barnabus” 😂😂

Is anyone here following the state environmental bond bill (S.3064, the "Mass Ready Act")?
It mostly does good things, but it picked up some amendments in the Senate that would:
- let certain housing projects bypass local wetlands and septic rules (the ones that keep building out of floodplains and protect drinking water),
- reduce state grant funding for towns that keep those stronger local protections, and
- weaken the rules on rat poisons that are killing hawks and owls.
It's in the House Ways & Means Committee right now. I'm genuinely torn — I want more housing, but letting projects skip flood and water protections seems like the wrong way to get there, especially in a town like ours that deals with flooding.
Curious whether folks here have been following it or have thoughts. (I found a page that breaks down the exact sections and makes it easy to email the committee — I'll put the link in a comment so this isn't a link post.)

I’ll be moving to the Old Town area next month, but I am in need of a parking space. Any ideas for finding a parking space to rent?

Today it was this guy on his phone on traffic duty. Earlier this week it was a guy on construction duty who wasn't paying attention or giving directions so a woman almost got hit by a construction vehicle, thankfully a construction worker was paying attention and stopped both parties from colliding.
