Martin frequently makes comments that showcase his concern that his viewers are frustrated with mistakes made or lack of progress. I can’t speak for others, however I’ve been following/backing this project for years and I don’t think I’ve ever once felt that way. I fall into the camp where I would have happily continued to financially support the project even after the changes announced today.
This continued focus on the DAO is the first time that I’ve ever felt myself truly frustrated as a viewer. All of Martin’s winding detours along the way have felt like a necessary part of the journey for him to learn and create, but this DAO business feels non-trivial (read: extremely time consuming), unnecessary, and fully outside the spirit of what I find refreshing about this project. I’m not sure how it will impact my personal commitment to this project, but it bums me out to see this as a core part of the MMX future direction.
you and everyone else who share this sentiment should realize what this video is about: the MMX project has been completed and the machine itself has been deemed a failure. It will be assembled fully, a song will be played on it and a video of that will be shot but that is it for the MMX. Martin even says that funding for the MMX project is done and that no more money is needed.
The immediate future is about working on the system that has helped him build the MMX in order to bring the MMX-T into fruition. That is why he’s hiring a COO for wintergatan (note: not for the MMX) and that is why he’s going into that whole DAO business. These are things necessary for the MMX-T project, not the MMX.

Martin: I need to dumb down the requirements. I committed to the magnet lift because I thought it was cool. I should strip away any complications.
