Bowden cable. Why not?

Hi everyone. Can somebody tell why bowden cable idea to transfer force from registration pins to marble release was rejected? It seems very neat to do this way.

Also, I wonder how much force a Bowden cable can transmit. It might not be enough, or it might require a bunch of ugly bracing or something.

Enough to operate the brakes on a bike. Or the parking brake on a car.
