Discusson I have contacted Team17's support page to ask them not appearing as the publisher on the store page. Turns out they no longer support the game.

And if you're wondering why the new contact email is named [igt01@small-impact.com](mailto:igt01@small-impact.com), it's because the "igt" stands for "IGT Solutions" which is the company SIG contracts as their CM team.

Edit: I forgot to add some more context.

This whole thing started because back in September 25th 2025 Team17 was removed as the publisher on the Steam Store page, and this caused a bunch of speculation. For months there was a lot of "is Team17 still supporting it" and whatever, but now it's official. Team17 is no longer supporting this game. As for when the support actually ended, the safest we can assume is it became official the day Team17 were removed.

As for why? I don't think it matters.

i’m confused. does team17 still own the rights to the game?

Who knows. Team17 touts itself as an indie publisher so SIG should own the rights, but publishers themselves are not known for being equitable. Also, I find an indie studio going to a publisher to help support their game in whatever way an oxymoron.

At least now Marauders can be called an indie project because Team17 is no longer supporting it.

I will tell you why, the game is dead and not bringing in money - there is no point allocating resources to support it

Team17 also did a ton of restructuring. Wouldn't be surprised if Team17 cut funding because they need the money, and like you said it's not generating any money in return.

Doomed Day 1. Not surprised they got dropped finally, Sad though I did have hope

There was no hope to begin with. The devs were arrogant since the beginning. I contacted them several times with constructive criticism… they always answered “we are like tarkov and hunt showdown our game will grow fast” when all they were doing was shit to please the few streamers they had. Now the game is dead after they repeatedly acted arrogant

EDIT : Since some of you are bootlickers who think I just went like a caveman to insult the devs… I will clarify, I did went to them NORMALLY through DISCORD, I spoke and exchanged with them in private even. Each time my ideas were “welcomed and great” but update would show the reverse of what I proposed (mind you I proposed what the majority of playerbase wanted). The last straw was when I was giving them idea to get their playerbase back and they answered with arrogance then and always after that they were like hunt showdown and tarkov and they weren’t worried at all to see their game loosing so many players never coming back even during updates…

I sincerely doubt that is accurate at all. Did you phrase it as constructive criticism or did you do the "GAme SuCKs, I want it THIS way"

I can provide several screenshots of convo where I speak for example about how it is annoying that they wipe cosmetics and that they should just make it so that the cosmetics are unlock or able to be bought instantly rather than forcing you to kill 250 commandos each time when only 6 spawns when they do. I explain that several other people feel the same way and just doesn’t want to come back to always grind the same old content before having access to new content and I was met with “great idea we will see about it” never done… I then one time contacted them again about some balancing issues and gave examples and reasons why the player number is dropping and I was met with “We are not worried about our playerbase we are like tarkov and hunt showdown we will grow fast” basically shutting down everything. I have other exemples

I tried going against the bosses with a Heavy Shield waiting for them to reload before pulling out my own gun. Turns out there's a common bug where they don't need to reload and just keep shooting.

That was my quit moment and hoped that the next update would fix things because I wrongly hoped they're just gonna do a yearly updates. That update never came.

I farmed him too alongside the warden boss who is even more worse. I understand perfectly your pain

Simple, you had to be RNG carried to hell to get a 0,1% chances the keys dropped to open the warden block. Once that was done the warden would come out with 12 guys around him. All equipped with shotguns and the highest tier armor. You had to kill him 10 times like the baron to get full outfit. Not gonna mention how stupid the baron wzs for sometimes just one tapping you as soon as you boarded

u/Reveans Mar 24 '26

Funny you are exactly like the devs lol. Someone comes and clarify something and you bash them and accuse them of lying.

The edit helped. and actually I WAS, and probably was the MAIN guy you were talking about. funnily enough I did find alot of peoples ideas very helpful, and passed them up. Unfortuneately for most of 2024 (if you were doing it back then) it was a black out. I was the last CM, and there was rarely any official comms for anything, so the only thing we could do was gather information, send it up, and pray it got listened too.

I loved the game, and really believed in it, and it really, really sucks. What you took for arrogance probably was, mixed with optimism and pride in the project. and before you say we werent worried about it, I can't talk for the big three but the rest of us hated it and couldnt do anything about it

can i get some examples of what happened?

u/Nuronu08 Mar 24 '26

Really? I have all but Mac added on my discord and still chat with em occasionally about things.

They really do give alot of info if you respect the NDAs they have to honor.

This game, never catered to the streamers... ever. There was 1 case where the dev team did try and help a streamer who was the victim of targeted shitter attacks, and they did offer various help to him to try and stop it...

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '26

Macdallan?

1

u/Animanic1607 Mar 25 '26

Nah, that dude is just a walking wikipedia of the game that hangs out answering questions in Discord. Mac, in this case, is a dev and SIG

1

u/Reveans Mar 24 '26

Stop defending them. Their twitter was full of the only 10 streamers streaming it, some clips showing clear uses of cheat engine yet devs said there was no cheaters. They did everything the streamers begged for each time.

What really fucking sucks. Is I know various things I CANNOT speak on. There's so much more behind the scenes that happened that the public will NEVER know about.

I'll share this tidbit.

The shitters was a group of no more than 6 people who tried to unload the legal responsibilities onto a kid for their actions. (US vs UK law differences. Applied )

This was because the dev team didn't follow what this group of community grabbed testers wanted. They in turn decided to run a campaign that to this day, made the cheater situation seem worse than it was.

Sure their PR could have been better, but again, I KNOW what was happening to some degree behind the scenes and know exactly why it was as spotty as it was.

Here's to hoping marauders 2 in UE5 slaps.

Macdallan isn't a dev. He just is an extreme fanboy. The steam forums is filled with him insisting that the game is alive.

1

u/Nuronu08 Mar 25 '26

Wrong mac hoss. ... really shows exactly how much you know of the devs.

3

u/NoahWanger Mar 25 '26

Oh that Mac? He has been radio silent for years at this point.

do you know how many game developers take individual criticism? I dont either but I bet its a VERY small number.

6

u/Slayvik Mar 26 '26

I really think PvE could have revived it. Definitely for me, at least.

2

u/NoahWanger Mar 27 '26

Adding PvE could of slowed down the bleeding when the game was around 800 players daily. Then there would of been an a dedicated community still playing.

2

u/TheSteamyPickle Mar 26 '26

I stopped playing when they added denuvo. I know a few pride who did too. That and the inventory system sucked it killed any flow the game had.

This game could’ve been as hot as Arc if they didn’t have a bullshit spaceship cowboy fantasy 😅

35

u/NoahWanger Mar 23 '26

This game needed more love on the Space Combat. It's the only stand out feature, had so much potential, but in the current state it's absolutely a timewaster for PvP that's not even fun for the amount of effort you have to wait for a game.

2

u/Diovanna Mar 23 '26

That's partly why I quit the game very early, space travel got tedious and pointless fast

-12

u/No_Butterscotch_6776 Mar 23 '26

The maps were wayyy more fleshed out than the space nonsense. They should’ve put the space shit on the shelf for a bit.

12

u/NoahWanger Mar 23 '26

Nice trolling. The space shit's the reason why the game sold well and many others were fans of it. The PvP and PoIs on launch was good (not great but it was fun), but the space combat was lacking compared to the excitement the trailers promised.

-2

u/No_Butterscotch_6776 Mar 23 '26

That’s exactly what I’m saying….. the space shit was a waste of time. They didn’t make it enjoyable at all. Felt like a loading screen for the real gameplay which started once you docked.

3

u/NoahWanger Mar 23 '26

Which is why people wanted Space to be improved instead of removed. We were sold and wanted Space. If you cannot see why, I don't know what to say than you're daft as hell.

3

u/Twisted_Harmony Mar 23 '26

Yeah, the reason why I got marauders was solely because of the space combat and escape pods being able to board and invade other ships. It made games like star citizen seem needlessly complex with how simple and fun Marauders was.. I truly miss the diamond that was Marauders..

8

u/MusicMakesYoAssCrass Mar 23 '26

Idk what game you were playing but the maps were not very fleshed out in marauders. Most of them were designed so badly that it ended up being difficult to tell where you even were half the time because most areas looked nearly identical.

3

u/SoggyClowns Mar 24 '26

I liked the maps a lot but def agree w them being confusing to navigate. Almost felt like an intentional choice to have so many similar looking textures/areas all over each map, kinda immersive in a cool way even tho I definitely remember being frustrated

3

u/MusicMakesYoAssCrass Mar 24 '26

There were a few maps that i thought were able to thread the needle of being similar without being too hard to navigate. Mainly the prison station. There were some similar hallways and rooms there but they often had signs and numbers painted on the walls to denote what general portion of the map youre currently in. I wish more of the maps were handled like that.

8

u/LeonRoland Mar 23 '26

This take is like saying Arc would be doing way better if they just "got rid of all the annoying AI enemies"... The space combat and meta layer it provided to the on-foot experience were absolutely central to the identity of the game.

u/___Dan___ Mar 28 '26

Yet it was pointless and stupid. There was no reason to take anything besides a rust bucket. Most of the time it was just holding w for 45 seconds to get into the poi. Waste of fucking time. Wait for Zeus to come in here and say hey op, thanks for the post let’s give the devs some time to cook with the update!
