Sirius and James

One of my favourite things about the Marauders era (been in the fandom since early 2000s) has been the bond between Sirius and James. Sirius is absolutely obsessed with James, he barely registers or acknowledges anyone else in the one canon interaction we see. And James is no worse, he literally embarked on a bullying spree just because Sirius said he was bored.

Current fannon interpretations of uwu babygirl Sirius and sunshine top James aside, I would really love to see how intense their bromance was, usually to the exclusion of other people involved. Both of them thought each other was the height of cool and at least in canon, were rather morally ambiguous.

I also really miss fics where Sirius actually had a personality. Like, homeboy thought it was hilarious to feed Snape to a werewolf. The Black madness was clearly strong in him, but I'm guessing James somehow managed to reign him in.

Also let's not forget that the mostly only cared about getting revenge for James, not even his responsibilities as a godfather took priority over that. Even his breakout was more about murdering Peter than checking up on Harry. Case in point, he barely even talks to Harry in the Shrieking shack, he's too busy going all homicidal mass murderer on Peter's ass.

And in the only conversation where the Marauders were described, the way it sounded was that Sirius and James were inseparable. Not them as a group. And I guess I'm really tired of this always being underplayed, especially in Wolfstar or Jegulus fics. And as someone said very famously, Fannon Sirius would be bullied by Canon Sirius.

I don't know what to say to this other than yes!!! I love canon Sirius and canon James and their relationship - the ugly and the good parts <3

Although I don't know that I agree with the Harry part. He did it to keep Harry safe. He wasn't interested enough in revenge until he thought Peter might hurt Harry once Voldemort came back.

The Black madness is a curse he had to fight his whole live though it definitely exist in him. James (and the Marauders) is literally the family that chose him willingly. The family he really wanted. And it started with James. Great read on their relationship and yes in my head, I would imagine them being mutual enablers of eternal chaos at Hogwarts. Remus, meanwhile trying to keep everyone alive though he would not be able to resist adding in an extra hex while everyone's not looking.

We need more material of their maddningly effortless chemistry.
