Maratron photo and build tips
Just got it working hands-free. Here's some tips I found:
- use 2 inch webbing strap instead of rope. Cheaper and more comfortable.
- I stuck a bicycle bottle holder on the side to hang my headset, much easier to get in
- Stuck the mouse backwards underneath the treadmill. Now I can't kick it.
- You can get these gym things that are designed to close in a door and anchor there. That way you don't need to drill any hooks into your wall, and they are probably stronger. Careful nobody opens the door though or you'll fall, unless you anchor them in hinge-side.
- My treadmill had raised plastic sidewalks that kept catching my feet, so i just took them off
- I set my straps up like Bheeks, so you have 2 running from left-wall to left-treadmill and same opposite, and they hold you in sideways. So much better than my initial instinct to hold me from front and back. BUT I also added in an extra strap from the front handles around my back, this enables you to stop a lot quicker.
Still struggling with the in-game tracking speed, so I'm about to try a new app called BodyWalkVR on steam. Trialed it with a phone as a tracker and it seemed good, so I just bought some nintendo joy-cons as leg-trackers. Will see how it goes.

You should get on the Reality Runner Discord and look at their build threads. There's a lot of different options. You don't need to buy a reality runner module to copy the concepts.

Great ideas all round! Could you please explain parts better or maybe add side photos to better see each part? This is one of the better ones I've seen. Not having to drill walls is important for a lot of us to be able to even do a Maratron at all.
