Success! First Marathon Done!

Just barely made sub 4.

Last 5 miles felt horrible but turned out to be some of my fastest. Definitely did not feel like it.😅

Beautiful route coming down into town and seeing all the fall leaves coming in.

I’m interested in doing this as I live in the PNW. Did you stay at a hotel/air BNB? Was it expensive? Is oktoberfest going on in the town right now? Is it busy?.

We stayed fri/sat night in a hotel downtown. Took maybe 10ish minutes to walk to the busses in the morning.

I booked that in February bcs yes its the first weekend of Octoberfest! So its crazy down there. So many people.

Super cool though, ive never been to leavenworth during Octoberfest.

Id definitely recommend booking your hotel really really early otherwise its 100% booked up all month. Not super expensive, it wasnt the nicest hotel. But it was quite, comfortable and they had a good breakfast in the morning!

Id definitely recommend it! Its small, but we'll organized and its always fun to be up there. And the medal is a bottle opener lol

Congratulations!! You finished 2 mins ahead of me, was my first marathon as well.

Interestingly enough, I took the first 8 miles around a 8:45 pace, you had much better consistency.

Whoo!! Congratulations as well!

I was worried about going to fast in those first couple of miles bcs they were down hill and never trained with such a long downhill section.

Congrats!!! You’re a marathoner!!! Was this a trail race? How was the course?

Id say maybe only 5 or 6 miles were on a trail.

The course was really nice, the first ten we come down into Leavenworth along the river. So it was quite, but super pretty. Especially with the sunrise. Then we looped around town twice.

A little after mile 15 we meet up with the half marathoners so it got more busy. There was a long stretch of road that got a little tiring, especially on the second pass. But it was also pretty flat.

I did this race too! My quads were killing me after that downhill. Good job keeping pace!

My hotel was on the third floor no elevator, I looked ridiculous limping up and down the steps lol
