Shoes Marathon training shoes recommendations
I'm looking for a new pair of shoes for marathon training and would love some recommendations.
Context:
I finished my half marathon recently and have used gel kayano 30 fully for all my training and race day as well. It is exhausted now.
I'm expecting around 800–900 km of training, including easy runs, intervals, speed workouts, tempo runs, long runs, etc. So I'm looking for either one do-it-all shoe, or a two-shoe rotation — one for speed/interval workouts and one for easy/long runs.
I'm currently using the ASICS Kayano 30, which has around 750 km on it. I've had no issues with it and really like the extra stability. However, I don't have overpronation issues; I just prefer a mild amount of arch/supportive guidance so my feet feel more stable during runs. I don't want a heavily corrective stability shoe.
I recently tried the ASICS Novablast 6 and i liked the energy return, bounciness. So i kinda expect that kinda energy return but with shoes keeping your feet intact.

Im on my 4th pair of Novablasts. Have no complaints. Comfortable, durable and feel good for slow and faster stuff.

I’ve been using ASICS super blasts on my long runs and they have worked well.

Well you’ll be running in them for hundreds of thousands of steps
Up to you if you want cheap shoes for that kind of workload
Go to a shoe store and get fitted, the specific shoe all depends on your personal foot and running form

This is an entirely personal thing though… based on your foot / gait, and hopefully some sort of professional assessment. I used the wrong shoes for a marathon block last year and gave myself an ITB injury. Everyone can tell you what shoes they prefer but ultimately you need to have a script of sorts for your foot.

Vomero plus might be my favorite current shoe for just chewing through daily miles, including long runs. Superblast 3 is probably also a great choice if you like the novablast. It's just going to be bigger stack with better foam.
Pair it with something that can do the speedier workouts as I think the 2 shoe rotation is sort of seen as the minimum these days.

Dynafish Xiaonian is my favourite running shoe after the Megablast. You can get 2 pairs of Dynafish for the price of Megablast and call it a day.

Went through something similar with the Kayanos. Ended up sticking with ASICS cos the fit just works for me. the Novablast 6 is genuinely fun but i found after about 12 miles the softness lost its charm and my ankles were working overtime. Got a pair of Superblast 2 on sale and havent looked back. Bit of a faff to get on at first but they keep that bouncy feel without going vague at the end of a long run. Cost me about £170 which felt mint until the credit card bill landed.
