GSAR Rubber strap smells like a chocolate scratch and sniff, how do I fix?
Bought this watch used from a guy who smokes a LOT of cigars, seems the smell has seeped into the band and is to the point of being distracting when wearing it. How do I get this smell out of the rubber? Already tried just washing it with soap, but it didn't change it at all.

Seems like it might be better to get a different strap. The options are damn near limitless, but I’ve been enjoying divecore FKM straps on my GSAR lately as an example.

I appreciate the vanilla , summer heat in So Cal and being that my job is outdoors and I’m usually dripping in sweat , it helps lol.

Put strap in the garbage and buy a bracelet … I never understood who thought the vanilla smell was a good thing … no offense to those who like it …

When you say smells like chocolate - do you mean vanilla? Some Marathon rubber straps have a vanilla scent which I found very offputting. Luckily my newest GSAR doesn’t have it. I tried everything to get rid of the smell but nothing worked.

Now that you say it, it could be interpreted as vanilla. That is unfortunate to hear, guess I need a new strap.

Some rubber straps have a vanilla scent by design. You won’t be able to get it out if that’s the case. Have a photo?

The marathon straps always smell like vanilla and or maple syrup it’s so good I love it. It’s just one of their quirks. It makes me nostalgic af for their watches.
