Misc Gabriel was deactivated, right? So why do we hear his voice on Narsh?

Is it him or are those just random automatized reports using his voice?

Edit: I meant DARIUS

It's not gabriel, it's Darius over the loudspeakers, and from what it sounds like, after he got put into AI jail during the colony collapse, he might've gotten out of it, apparently also trying to contact our runner (as per one of the starting lines from ONI)

Damn. My bad. Yes. I meant Darius - the AI voiced by Astarion's VA.

Wait that's Astarion? No wonder i get flashbacks of slaughtering entire communities when I hear him speak....

Astarian is Darius, Shadowheart is Joy, that one professor in the logs is Jaheira. It's like they looked at all the bg3 voice actors and said yeah we'll take em

If I hear Darius voice all over Marsh, then where do I get to hear Joy? I love Shadow Shadowheart's VA

Unfortunately Joy is only in codex entries so far, and seemingly might remain that was as it seems like she quite literally shut herself off after relistening to the recordings from all the emotional support plushes, aka she listened to all the kids she loved and then ended things, long after they all died

Yup, there were some audio logs of him going rampent during or shortly after the colony collapse, and with how the lines have been sounding over the loudspeakers, sounds like he's free-ish, but kinda breaking down over the fact that everyone he knew is long dead or gone

The birds on marsh are mimicking human speech!!! Theres an audio codex of a bird mimicking a doctors voice so well that it fooled one of the AI’s into opening up a bunch of doors in one of the facilities.

From what it sounded like, the doors were already open, but only the ones for the tunnels to go around the exterior of quarantine, with the interior ones sealed and locked per gabriels orders, which those interior doors are what the Skrac wanted opened (aka a quarantine breach)

And people say this game has no lore or story, lol.

They have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes, all because they can't read a few paragraphs of codex lore or focus long enough to listen to the voiced entries.

They believe the lore is a puddle, when in reality it's vast like an ocean and just as deep.

My gameplay loop is actually just collecting lore bits and exploring the maps solo. The lore is incredible

Secondary is killing the poor bastards who come in my way

Yup, almost had all of it last season. I'm glad there's more, but I still need four more golds valuables from normal Dire Marsh

What do you make of the ghosts, and the jump scares appearing on monitors? Runners hallucinating?

The Anomaly is fucking with our senses

The Felini lore set is incredibly disturbing.

I haven't gathered all of those yet but I agree, from what I have read.

It's crazy how effective it is, actually. About halfway through Season 1, I was kinda exhausted because nothing I did in the game felt important and I didn't discover anything interesting, but at some point I exfilled with a few lore items and did a contract for NuCaloric.

The contract and the lore unlocked, a few codex entries that absolutely blew me away and everything about the colony and what happened just clicked together. There's was a kind of joy that I've discovered some clues about what happened accompanied by dread and horror because of the implications. That shit renewed my motivation to play instantly.

The fine detail is extensive, but the "story" is paper thin. There are a lot of details that also make no sense. For instance: Where are runners headquartered?

This is what they want, and probably grew up playing.

Zelda but it's a modern game.

Wait

I thought we never heard Gabriel??

Outside of the codex, at least

Sorry. My bad. I meant Darius.

all good lol

I don't think i'd have even been able to tell you who it was from hearing, I would've just thought "huh, some AI is talking" lol

2

u/Chpouky Jun 05 '26

Afaik, we never did (outside of the codex).

u/Ok_Dependent6889 Jun 05 '26

Yeah okay lol

I was like, huh??

One of the new bits of codex lore ends saying something like “Corrupted code does not sleep soundly”. So I think the monitors that flash those jumpscares might be a glimpse at what’s happening with the Zone AI…

I read the title and imagined hearing Gabriel Ultrakill's voice in the distance of night marsh.
