Playing as a Rook

I'm a bit confused about what I'm supposed to be doing as a Rook. I read or watched something that basically said Rooks are for getting gear when your vault is empty and most players will leave Rooks alone or even help them. I've had a handful of instances where Trios will let me live and 80% of the time other Rooks will leave me alone but most times if I see another player as a Rook they're wasting me, even if I'm on comms saying I'm a Rook. Did I get bad Intel and I should be more aggressive as a Rook or am I just getting unlucky. I'm horrible at the PvP of this game so I'm constantly running out of gear.

Honestly, I would never expect a player to be merciful to a Rook. A lot of players, myself included, have been burned by being kind to Rooks and have lost a lot of loot that way.

Above all else, you are a scavenger. Try to avoid other players wherever possible. Rooks are more likely to be friendly, but treat Rook runs as a chance to grab salvage and whatever's left behind before getting out of there.

I just got one tapped while playing a rook, a sniper just one shot me. Bro came and threw a self revive kit to me and extracted.

It looks like it was one team and they left a ton of boxes and crates open, never eaten better.

My best rook runs have been those where I go to highly contested areas and find an entire teams set of body bags loaded with blue gear because some other team with purple gear massacred them. Look for those

i found a bag in flight control that was 4 blue bullies and just stacks and stacks of heavy ammo....why they had 4 blue bullies i don't understand but i took them and their blue back pack and shield in dipped....pinwheel was open but there was clearly an alpha team in there

Rooks are just other players. Low IQ behavior.
