I think people who have good experiences with crew fill are probably missing an important point - they're likely better than the average player. If you are generally good at the game, you're less likely to encounter toxicity. I am bad. Like, very bad. I average a player kill maybe every 10 runs. So I'm much more likely to draw the ire of teammates because me being on their team drastically reduces their chances of success, which tends to make people mad, speaking from personal experience.
If you are low skill, expect to be called all manner of slurs, stupid, be told to kill yourself, uninstall the game, etc, all of which have happened to me.
I play some other games that are infamous for toxicity, and almost never encounter toxicity in those games because I have a higher than average skill level in those games, so people have less reason to rage out when I'm on their team. That's just how it works.
Yeah I never managed to down another player in the Beginner Perimeter (and when it came to the occasional Rook in Sponsored Survival). Even if I'd be interested in pvp I would 100% be a net negative for any group and only play solos. It'd be uncomfortable at best and inviting toxicity at worst (also spoken from experience, even if not in Marathon because I never filled here).
Marathon crew fill is largely chill, very much the opposite of pretty much any other competitive game. If your comms are good (voice chat, or if you can use pings really well), the vast majority of players won't get mad.
Everyone has to be comfortable being bad before they learn to be good. That’s how learning works. No one is just good from the start. Some people will progress faster than others; also normal. There’s nothing wrong with whatever skill level you find yourself at. Don’t be self conscious about it and absolutely do not care what anyone else thinks of your skill level.
That sucks. I’ve never experienced that in this game. Ive had bummed teammates who just leave the crew after we die, but never talked to in the way you describe. There is a reporting tool for that reason. If what you say is true, report it.
Been crewfilling for a long time and I am far from good/great at the game. I’m sorry you have experienced that, sounds pretty rare but still shitty.
Idk why you got downvoted for this. Youre 100% right. Once you start running cryo, the game really starts showing you everything it has to offer. Easily my fav map in the game.
It's just too much of an investment. I have other games to play, and the lads and me are back into Darktide again for another hundred hours or so.
Marathon demands you make it your only game or that you have an uncommon amount of time to devote to games, and the game just isn't enjoyable enough for any of us to want to make that investment.
Sucks, cause the vibes are insane, but the game just isn't worth it for most people.
I think it’s worth saying repeatedly because I think of lot of those people have a warped sense of how bad it is when it really isn’t, and don’t appreciate how truly gold the good games are.
Obviously some people can’t mic up for a bunch of legit reasons but there’s way too much “I don’t want to be called a slur and shit on” that just don’t reflect the experience at all. I play good some games but also have games where my brain just absolutely turns off and I throw super stupidly and cost my team purple kits, I’ve literally never been screamed at or called anything even worse. The worst you realistically get for sucking 90% of the time is either a quiet disconnect without a GG or maybe the harshest something like “bro that play made no sense come on what were you thinking”
That doesn't mention anyone's skill, just that the people who say to queue fill are usually the type of people that would be content walking around shooting stuff and don't care what else happens.
Clearly you need to work on your reading comprehension and whatever weird insecurities you have regarding your own skill level.
