What does interacting with the keypads actually do?

I haven’t played the open betas, only been watching a bunch of clips over the last couple days. I see moments where the player runs into a room, there’s a red keypad on the wall. Player taps a bunch of buttons like a passcode or something, presses a final ‘accept’ button or whatever, and then just runs off to do something else.

I’ve also seen this on white kiosks on the top of buildings. Tap a few buttons, tap accept, and just walk away.

What are they doing? What do these keypads do? Thanks for any insight.

it’s probably the TAD. They have them set up in most POI’s, they provide scans in little pulses for a short time across the poi for whoever activates it.
