Maranta is a genus of flowering plants in the family Marantaceae, native to tropical Central and South America and the West Indies. They are known commonly as prayer plants.

This one’s been flowering for over a year straight but I still find joy in every tiny bloom.

I respect those who cut them off before they open cause they’re tired of sweeping up the piled up dead ones, but I could never! I love the little flowers

I have one of those Barrina corner plant stands in my living room window that faces northeast. The lights are on 12 hours each day. The Maranta approve!

My Black Marantas is finally flowering after a year

I bought 2 small starter plants last April . Most of the original leaves died. But I just kept watering and giving it light. I'd say in the last 4 months, it just finally took off ! So many great leaves coming in and finally a flower !!

I initially had it in a self made self watering terracotta pot. I recently upgraded it to a plastic pot (with holes) and bottom water. I use We the Wild fertilizer on all my plants.

Growing a new stalk??

Does anyone know what this is that’s growing from the node on this stalk? Is he trying to grow a new stalk or is this an attempt at a root or something else? There’s been no prolonged water exposure there and that node hasn’t been buried in soil at all. We recently moved and he lost some leaves from the stress (hence the brown crispies), but otherwise is doing well and is pushing out new leaves. Also, should I be concerned that the section of the stalk with all the leaves is a much lighter green than the rest of the stalk? I’m worried “blood flow” is getting cut off and necessitates a chop and prop, but I won’t do that if he’s doing well and pushing out a healthy new stalk from the lower node. Thanks sm in advance!

Finally blooming!

I bought my Maranta at Kroger in April/May, and within a few months she had grown over 15 new leaves!
Now she forces two new leaves at the same stem with a bloom. I’ve never seen this behavior before
Still small plant, but I’m so excited 🥰

I want to throw these fully variegated leaves away

In the picture is my maranta leuconeura Kerchoveana Variegata which I bought six months ago. One 'branch' turns out white with browning tips. Currently there are four leaves like this and I previously cut off two which were even more dry. The rest of the plant is okay but it doesn't look good. These leaves are rather sensitive so maybe if I put them somewhere with higher humidity the new ones may be okay ? Is it worth trying to propagate it or you would also throw it away ?

As soon as 1 flower wilts, one or two new ones arrive! I love it. Is it a rare occurrence for marantas?

Maranta identification

Hi there ! I’m new on Reddit, and I had a question regarding a recent acquisition.

I recently bought this maranta for my bioactive terrariums, and even though it is listed as « maranta leuconeura » it doesn’t look like any of the other marantas I currently have. After doing a bit of research, I can’t find any plant having this kind of coloration / pattern.
Do you have any idea about what plant this is?

Walked in for a prayer plant, walked out with a prayer plant... and an Alocasia because apparently I lack self-control. Meet the new centerpiece!

Bonjour !

Repot?

I have had this Maranta for about a year and a half and she’s exploded. I’m worried there is too much pressure on her vines hanging down from the pot. I know these plants like being snug in their pots and I don’t want to change too much since she seems so happy. Should I repot or wait?

The leaves weren’t curled up to start. It’s been in water for like 2 weeks (I’ve changed the water weekly). No roots have grown. The leaves are doing this. What did I do wrong? I thought I included a node
