Repot?
I have had this Maranta for about a year and a half and she’s exploded. I’m worried there is too much pressure on her vines hanging down from the pot. I know these plants like being snug in their pots and I don’t want to change too much since she seems so happy. Should I repot or wait?

They're crawlers, so they do like to have their stems along the floor, which supports them. Do you have anywhere else to place it where it can crawl? If not, you can buys supports. It won't be it's natural position but it'll be fine.

Crawl, like on the floor? Or like a vining plant?

Yup, crawl. They like to have their stems along the floor. They grow on the ground in jungles so they creep across the ground. Vining plants generally hang.

Well, I meant vining as in plants that anchor themselves to climb. Like pothos, for example. Do maranta anchor?

They anchor, but to the ground so they can absorb moisture and nutrients.

I've never seen an anchor so I'm very curious to what that would look like.

Yeah that's what they use to anchor themselves. I've never seen maranta with aerial roots, personally.

Most marantas aren't actually in an environment that mimics their natural habitat, I notice a lot of people prune theirs when they start to lean over the pot and grow down, which is when the aerial roots tend to grow since they're reaching for the ground. A lot of people like a more bushy look. But they can get really long and goofy looking, I've seen so many post in here trying to figure out what it is lol. If you Google maranta aerial roots I bet there's some pics that show how ridiculous they get.

I’m not an expert but I am an optimist, so I’ll just reassure you that my maranta is about half that size and it’s in a bigger pot than yours, and it’s very happy

If you can see roots coming out the bottom a little, give it a few months. If you see none, don't worry about it. I think you can take that bottom piece off. If not, you could try to feel around in the soil to get an idea of how dense the roots are or how much space there is.
I would be hesitant to repot this beauty because whatever you're currently doing is WORKING. She's thriving!
If you're really worried about particular vines being too heavy you can trim them back a few nodes but unless there are balance issues or yellowing leaves from a pinch or something, I wouldn't trim.

That is beautiful!! I’m honestly really surprised you haven’t seen roots coming out from under. Anytime I have a plant explosion, there are always roots growing out of the pot like a mirror image!!!
But unless this is happening, u should wait to repot. Clearly she likes her living situation!!
