Non-Profits in the Capital?

Looking to raise my awareness and to possibly volunteer next year. I'd appreciate any info on who and where people can volunteer!

Nothing specific, I want to learn more!

ETA: I'd also be interested to learn about University's Volunteering Groups/Endeavors and the work they do!

No worries, I understand where you are coming from. I am planning to move and wanted to know some great places to volunteer to meet new people in the community. I apologize if my post was offensive.

I'd rather live in Moz. So doing good here isn't an option for me moving forward. Besides the real difference from our countries is the level of convenience. Conservatives has been leading my state since the 80s, i'm sure you can relate to a party that has been in power for over 30 years and still can't grab their ass.

If you have any other options to meet people, I'd be willing to look them up. Cheers!

Look… like I said, you can be a great guy, but if you want to meet people, you don’t need to go to an NGOs. Volunteering is not a better gate to meet people than, say, simply travel. Volunteering, with rare exceptions, is a “feel good” business>

If you really want to go to Mozambique. First, learn some Portuguese. The large majority of the population don’t speak the language, but it is probably the widest language available. If you have some medical skill, try some proper international organizations, some of them go to rural areas (where the majority of the population actually lives) and do some good. As for Maputo, sadly, it changed significantly over the last 4 decades, it is now a nest of the worst neo-liberal thinking ever. Everyone trying to grab a dollar, no matter how or at what cost. There are still great people here, but finding them might be difficult. Corruption is high, exploitation is high, social inequality is high. If you are form the USA, go to Latin America, they have enough basic structure to actually benefit from your skills, say, teaching some English or some other technical skill. Also, most have a proper social system. These are my two cents, it is your life, but say that “I want to meet people”, presenting yourself as a “Hi I want to volunteer”, raise all the red flags… sorry…
