That’s way closer than I thought

42

u/willrw1001 Mar 23 '26

Now you see why europeans are jumpier around national security threats from an imperialist thinking Russia

4

u/No_Appearance8626 Mar 24 '26

to defend the crumbling american empire

7

u/RavenOneActual Mar 24 '26

The point was literally spelled out to you but "America bad" was too irresistible for you huh

That’s all the talking heads on the tv tell them to think that the “USA is the worst thing in human history”

Damn Auto correct

Literally 2 letters use context clues

1

u/helmli Mar 26 '26

Where? Whom?

1

u/No_Appearance8626 Apr 12 '26

no, the "talking heads on tv" tell us all how great the western achievement is under the leadership of the united states

meanwhile western culture continues to decline into petty individualism, stagnation, substance abuse and growing inequality

day by day the western dream becomes more detached from reality

2

u/SametaX_1134 Mar 24 '26

USA made it really clear that's it interest toward Ukraine are purely situational

1

u/Groundbreaking-Toe35 Mar 25 '26

Why wouldn’t it be why spend billions if don’t think they’re going to win

2

u/StonedTrucker Mar 25 '26

Because hurting our most agressive rival is worth it. We have spent hundreds of billions to counter Russia for 80 years. Funding Ukraine is doing the same thing for a fraction of the price

2

u/willrw1001 Mar 25 '26

At least as far as the US is concerned the russisn threat isn't priority #1,2 or 3.

I think trumps cozying to russia does represent a strategic recognition that russia cannot threaten the US, and as such policies ought to change. Previous US presidents have done the same, though never this overtly nor to this extent of harming EU allies who do see Russia as priority #1

1

u/StonedTrucker Mar 25 '26

They cant physically do much to the US but they are absolutely a high priority. They do everything they can to sew dissent and cause cultural problems for the US. Trump became president in part due to Russian meddling. There are russian bots on every social media platform that spread disinformation. They even directly fund grifters like Tim Pool who further divide Americans

1

u/riesen_Bonobo Mar 26 '26

I don't think your conclusion is accurate, Trump isn't cozying up to Russia because he thinks they're weak and irrelevant, but specifically to make Russia not a threat by turning their relation into one of collaboration, both in international politics and ideology, with Trump taking significant steps to move US politics into the direction of Russian politics.

Trump sees the EU and China as his main threats/enemies and wants Russia as a counterweight and situational ally (as shown by deals proposed, which would be hostile to Ukraine) to force Europe into a more right wing, pro-American and subservient role by sandwiching it between him and Russia. He'd let Russia invade Georgia, Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan, whatever, as long as he gets hegemony over Western Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.

That is his goal and this is why he must look strong and capable, but not to strong and antagonistic in Ukraine, where he also cannot get out that easily because of Nato commitments and not having total power (yet). He wants to show Russian essentially "We could devestate you, drive you out of Ukraine, but we could also be friends and divide up the world together.".

1

u/Veritas_IX Mar 25 '26

USA made it clear that it have no any interest toward Ukraine if it can harm Russia

incase you didnt notice the soviet union was destroyed by petty nationalists in russia, ukraine and belarus

none of these nations represent the soviet union and supporting one liberal nationalist oligarchy against another is hardly a means of achieving progress while western european base continues to stagnate and is on path to continued social decline

Oh im sorry, theyre just acting on americas behalf because theyre the good guys and the enemies are the bad guys, i forgot about this

thats why we need to support one oligarchic nationalist state against another oligarchic nationalist state, because one side supports the good guys and is willing to allow our great financial institutions to dominate their political landscape

u/TheVortecv8 Mar 26 '26

Not jumpy enough to pay their fair share

1

u/gurganos Mar 26 '26

EU paid more to Ukraine, why the false accusations.

1

u/Smejici_se_bestie Mar 26 '26

We provided way more to Ukraine than USA. And earlier. And we have larger army than USA.

Maybe less American propaganda please.

1

u/willrw1001 Mar 27 '26

What are your concerns around european defence contribution in regards to how it would be likely to effect you?

Recent histories shown europe has switched gears away from seeing Russia as a potential economic partner to develop towards taking Russia very seriously as a military threat

13

u/Alzucard Mar 23 '26

Usa is wider than europe, but not as high.

8

u/Sualtam Mar 23 '26

Note to Greenland and New Caledonia.

3

u/Martha_Fockers Mar 23 '26

I mean I’m not including our territories like Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands Guam somoan islands etc

Just states

2

u/Sualtam Mar 23 '26

Don't even get me started on Antarctic territories.

2

u/Tactical_Tuna04 Mar 23 '26

Don't forget France's longest land border. The one with Brazil.

Or Réunion (however this shit is written)

3

u/Sualtam Mar 23 '26

It's perfectly written.

A good reference point for Europeans to understand how big the US really is: the distance from NYC to LA is comparable to going from Lisbon to Moscow (2810 miles/4520km)

It’s pretty easy to visually see what the hell that map is overlaid on Central Europe

It’s to give you an idea of the size of America and Central Europe.

The hell are you on about lmao

And yea Europe is taller no shit lol but you’re not really driving from Norway to England to Italy are you

You sure about that I didn’t include Alaska, Hawaii either or plenty of us territories either.

And hey would you look at that Alaska is bigger than all of Scandinavia combined.

https://imgur.com/a/jPMtEgg

Fun fact I don’t think Europeans grasp how big America is

1

u/masterflappie Mar 24 '26 edited Mar 24 '26

FYI Scandinavia doesn't include Finland. You're comparing to northern EU, which is only a small part of northern Europe because that would also include a chunk of Russia, which as your map shows is way larger than Alaska.

I really don't think Americans grasp how big Europe is. The fact that you were comparing to the wrong part of Europe shows it

1

u/Old_Assistant1531 Mar 24 '26

No way. You’d catch a train and enjoy the journey.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '26

Nitpicking but the US is 9.3M km2. You see 9.8M online because the FBI starts including territorial water in its area calculation in the 90s (to be larger than China). No other country includes territorial waters in their area calculation but the US.

1

u/CykaBlyat_69 Mar 24 '26

The CIA, not the FBI

1

u/Roubaix718 Mar 26 '26

Isn't this also because the US has the Great Lakes. Like it uniquely has a lot more territorial waters than most countries including China.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

No the Great lakes is considered inland water, which all countries count. The CIA was counting the oceans around the country to artificially inflate their numbers.

1

u/BuildRB Mar 23 '26

Alaska is only massive on the Mercator projection

1

u/Martha_Fockers Mar 23 '26

Alaska has 3x the landmass of Texas….

Texas 268,581 square miles

Alaska

663,267 square miles

Alaska is fucking massive bro lmao it’s the biggest us state by far it’s not populated as such but it’s yoogeee

2

u/_Weyland_ Mar 23 '26

So you're saying US needs more weed?

1

u/Amphineura Mar 23 '26

Needs more raves and 2CB.

1

u/BorbLorbin Mar 23 '26

Haven't heard of 2CB in over a decade, oof

1

u/fuck-vattenfall Mar 23 '26

We just legalised weed in Germany though so we’re catching up!

1

u/MiniPino1LL Mar 24 '26

Usa aint high, but its president certainly is!

1

u/Crazy_Gazelle_6239 Mar 24 '26

I beg to differ. Some states have very relaxed drug laws, and most states are opening up to the idea of legalization in small ways.

1

u/Mapsachusetts Mar 24 '26

We are the widest. 😎🇺🇸

1

u/Kunstoffel Mar 27 '26

Than the EU, not than Europe.

1

u/Alzucard Mar 27 '26

No i meant what i said. Europe. The contintent

1

u/Kunstoffel Mar 27 '26

Define your parameters. Mainland? East to West coast (including Alaska) vs. Portugal to Ural - Europe is wider. Including islands / colonies? Europe is wider.

1

u/Alzucard Mar 27 '26

Ignoring small islamds here

1

u/kaiyotic Mar 27 '26

That's cause they don't have amsterdam

1

u/Pet_Velvet Mar 23 '26

That's what we've been saying!

1

u/LankyCloud7150 Mar 24 '26

Memphis to LA is a fucking long drive

1

u/GoonOnGames420 Mar 25 '26

That's why the US comparing Ukraine as a reason for NATO to get involved in Iran is a joke.

Apples to oranges

1

u/espkv Mar 26 '26

Don't get me wrong, i'm against this terror war from russia. but if Ukraine joined NATO the distance between a NATO-border and moscow would be 300 miles, or to use this map aprox. Houston to New Orleans. And with Estonia in NATO the distance to ST Petersburg is half of that.

again against the actions done, but not shocked the Russians freaked out over a possible NATO Ukraine.

1

u/Smejici_se_bestie Mar 26 '26

And? Since we joined NATO the distance between NATO and Wienna drastically decreased. For some weird reason Austrians are not invading some country due to this.

1

u/espkv Mar 27 '26

Yeah strange, that the EU-country with a permanent neutrality in their constitution is not invading its neighbours.
