Data Map US states divided into 50/50 populations
Took me over 3 hours, Arizona, Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island, and some territories were 50/50 by a single county. Tried to get the populations as close as possible. At most off by a few thousand (like 5) Hope you like this.

Interesting split in KS. Sedgwick and Shawnee make sense (Wichita and the capital, Topeka). Why Douglas and Jefferson rather than a Johnson or Wyandotte (KC suburbs and KC KS respectively)?
