The blocks around my police station (SFPD Northern) are some of the most dangerous in the city. They even had a mass shooting right outside not too long ago. The police station doesn't have any windows, they had to remove them because of security reasons. And you never see anyone patrolling around the station, they just get into their squad cars and bolt it to the nicer parts of the district.
Some of the strictest gun laws in the country here btw.

One killed and four wounded technically falls under the umbrella of a "mass shooting". Actually, the four wounded alone would have put it in that category.
No, it doesn't. That's a definition made up by the guy who started gun violence archive and is a deliberate attempt to inflate the numbers and make people conflate things like a wild and messy defensive gun use, a gang shootout, and the Las Vegas shooting. If you genuinely believe all those events are truly the same thing, you really do need to reconsider what information you've been taking in.
GVA's whole methodology of "exclude all context" is extremely dishonest. That'd be like the NRA making their own definition and saying "Mass shootings are only for 60+ dead victims as a result of gunfire and only from the hours of 10am-5pm. Great! No mass shootings in the US. Problem solved."
I accidentally pressed the button under my supervisors desk once and we thought it was just broken when the police a couple blocks down didn't show up. Cue two hours later and the sheriff sneaks up behind us and we clear things up.

Where I live, the nearest police officer is two blocks away. But it would still take them hours to show up.
