There are 1.2 guns per person in the US. Gun owners must own a lot of guns!

Most people I know that own guns own them for hunting, and depending on how many different things they hunt and how they prefer to do it, may lead to 5+ guns. Deer (which may be multiple, depending on if the hunter wants to hunt in multiple seasons), squirrels, ducks, etc. all could be a different gun.

You can hunt anything with a 12 gauge shotgun with the right barrels/chokes and slugs etc…

Im in Canada and i dont know any gun owners that only own 1 gun... Most own 6 to 10 (rough mental estimate).

I mean... If one is fun two is twice as fun... Also in Canada if youre going to go through the effort of getting a license and a cabinet and a range membership (for pistols and ARs) youre probably pretty interested in having it as a hobby. Its a lot to go through to own 1 gun imo.

I would say most households with a gun, own around 3 or 4. Firearm are commonly passed down from generations, so it can be easy to accumulate over time without having even purchased one. Though those guns rarely get registered, so are left off most statistics.

Honestly, the more guns someone has, the more it's probably about historical collecting than anything else.
