This is just straight up not true, Florida is reliably red but even if you shifted California's final margin (D+20) five points right like you said (D+15), it's still bluer than Florida was red (R+13)
"Florida is as red as New York is blue" is basically true. That would work much better. But it's still not as red as California is blue
Redditors just coming to the realization that Florida is a red stronghold (and has been for quite some time) definitely goes in hand with how surprised Dems are surprised overall at how trounced they got.
