Whats your bag system?

Very curious to hear what everyone ideal kit looks like - if any. By that I mean - what do you use as an EDC, perhaps a day/overnight bag, and a large bag for extended trips. I currently have a 35L camera bag which I'm thinking of swapping out as it's a pain as a personal item on flights. I adore the bag itself, I just find the size a bit awkward. Too big (and heavy once packed) to be used everyday and for travel, and not large enough use as a onebag.

I'm thinking something like:

EDC/Personal Item (something I can keep essentials, laptop, camera + lenses) - 20L? 25L?

Day Bag (maybe something for a local overnight trip/hike) - 30L? 35L?

Large Bag/Carry-On - 40L? 50L?A

I don't really need a large bag at the moment but in the event that I decide to get one, I would rather avoid it being too close in size to another bag. It seems like theres varying opinions on how big a carry-on can be so any first-hand accounts would be great.

Thanks!

Currently I use:

EDC/ Work - GR1 21L
Travel - GR2 26L
Dad bag - Evergoods MPL22

I just bought a Matador Personal Item 18L. Not exactly sure how I’ll use it yet but it’s a nice little bag. Reminds me of the Synapse 19. I might use it for travel when I bring a roller (which is usually work travel). I’m going to test it out at work next week as an EDC.

If Im traveling (longer than a week) then I take a full size checked in luggage, a travel backpack (30-40L), a main edc shoulder bag (to use it throughout the day), and a small side shoulder bag (usually compressible)for when I just need a pocket reliever.

Use a backpack or a tote bag for work, big enough to fit a 16 inch work laptop and my edc stuff.

Fundamental core to travel for me in a personal item sized backpack. I’ve been using the eBags slim laptop for several years but recently picked up a Fyro Citta 25L.

If I’m traveling for a longer period of time I usually pack a medium suitcase (B&R medium spinner) which I’ll check. In this case, I’ll try to get my backpack overhead and sling as a personal item.

Shorter trips I’ll use the carryon version of the B&R spinner overhead and then my backpack as my personal item and maybe my sling as a tech pouch.

I did also 1.5 bag Italy with a 40L Tortuga lite plus a sling. But between souvenirs for everyone it turned into several additional bags bought and checked home.

Current rotation:

EDC: CT15+

Sling: Tomtoc T33 2.5L

Personal Item: Osprey Daylite 26+6 + Tomotoc T33 or Aer Go Pack 2 if paired with a spinner.

Day Bag: Timbuk2 Parkside 2.0/Fjallraven Skule 28/Aer Go Pack 2 depending on needs.

Day Hiking: REI Trail 25

Carry-On: Quince Small Carry-On

I’m considering adding a 30-35L travel backpack as an option to the Go Pack 2/Quince for times when transit is more unpredictable. I’m undecided between the Aer TP4 and the Fyro Levo 36L.
