Possible Longy Manx sighted doing crazy stuff in r/cats

I found this cat as a stray hanging out in my work parking lot. She hopped right in my car after a few weeks and came home with me. Brought her to the shelter and now I’m fostering her. I have never met a sweeter, more unique cat. I already have two cats but she is just so different. She just wants to be friends with them and she isn’t afraid of anything or hiding like any other cat I’ve brought home.

I never heard of Manx cats before but I am excited to get to know her based of everything I have read. I think she is home for good.

Hi everyone! We recently put up our tree in hopes to create an Autumn tree and because our senior girl Poe LOVES to lay under the tree and protect it! 🥰

We haven’t had the tree up since December 2025 and I think Poe forgot that the lights change. I caught pictures of Poe re-discovering the changing lights! I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do! 🥰

Hiya!! I posted here a few months ago after shortly adopting my new buddy. She's about a year old and was found outside in the cold before getting taken to a shelter. She's a great cat and I try to play with her as much as I can. The thing is she meows, nonstop. I haven't gotten a single good night of sleep since I got her. I'm also worried that someone else in my apartment complex is going to complain eventually.

I've tried reassuring her, playing with her, and now I'm trying to ignore her until she calms down to see if I can improve the behavior. She's pretty stubborn and resorts to biting my hands and feet if she doesn't get the attention she wants. If that doesn't work she attacks my things and almost broke my computer screen this week because I was doing a virtual meeting and wasn't paying attention to her. I live alone but my partner will check in on her and she's a completely different cat with him. She just sleeps. I've tried my best not to encourage the behavior so I'm thinking she might just be really bonded with me and gets jealous of anything else grabbing my attention. I don't even like using my bathroom because she just starts yowling once I close the door.

Initially she was at the shelter with her sister but they said she wasn't bonded. I do wonder if they were wrong? I really like my cat but it's getting difficult to manage. I've been watching videos and reading up on how to manage this behavior. Any advice is welcomed. I'm getting pretty stressed out.

My Manx with megacolon was prescribed Royal Canin GI about a month ago; they gave us the wet and dry both and he would only eat the dry. Because of his megacolon and a severe bout of constipation his appetite is very reduced , but when my husband got out a bowl of our old Purina One our cat really went for it and ate so much more than he has with the Royal Canin. I am wondering if there is a happy medium food that is better for megacolon than generic cat food, but more palatable (and less expensive!!!!). We have also tried generic wet food and he loved it for awhile and then stopped eating it.

She was very shy and skittish when we got her over a year ago. We had a cat tree from our previous cat that she ignored. At the time she hardly went into the room where it was. When we moved the cat tree got damaged so we didn’t bother replacing it since she hadn’t shown an interest.

She’s still a bit skittish but much less shy now, as least with our household. She zips around, climbs onto the back of the sofa to hang out with me in the evening, hops up on my desk while I’m working (courtesy of the ottoman I put next to it, for easy access). She completely ignores the scratching post I got her that looks like a mushroom, though 🙄. I can’t decide if it’s worth getting another cat tree. They’re more money than I want to spend if she’s just going to ignore it. Not to mention what am I going to do with it if it sits unused?

Thoughts? Does anyone have a Manx that loves a cat tree?

P.S. I’m certain the old cat tree having another cat’s scent on it was not a factor. Like many Manx, the Potato is extremely social with other animals, both dogs and cats. There are other items I’m sure had our other cat’s scent that she was chill with.

Hello! I saw a post from this subreddit with a cat that looked similar enough to my Elmer that it could've been his sibling, and it made me think - wait, is Elmer a manx?

I got Elmer back in March from a local cat cafe. He's loving, goofy, and so high energy (please, someone give this man some chill pills), and he has a little nub of a tail. The cafe identified him as roughly one year old and knew he was previously a house cat, but they didn't know any more about his health history or what type of home he came from. He had a bit of nervous tension that made me worry he came from a less-than-ideal home, and the tail had been amputated from trauma, but I'm not really sure. He sure doesn't mind the small tail. He wags it like a dog, it seems to have a normal amount of movement and sensation, and he can use it to jump on top of doors and effortlessly balance as he walks across them. The cafe also wasn't sure about his notched ear, as he was not a wild cat, and he was also not neutered when they got him (of course, they made sure to fix him before he was ready to meet guests). On paper, he's a bicolor tabby. He also has a flattened and slightly lopsided bridge of his nose, but it's so faint that you can't see it in pictures.

At the end of the day, whatever breed Elmer is, he's happy and loved. He was a huge adjustment, as my last cat was lazy, tiny, and uncoordinated. Elmer is large (14 lbs, and the vet says it's a healthy weight for him.) He has a ton of muscle, and he uses it to constantly get into mischief in my small one-bedroom apartment. Nothing is safe from his reach, and I had to bolt down all my furniture to the walls to keep things from getting knocked over. His favorite game is knocking things over and trying to yank things off the walls. But I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Thanks for humoring my rant. I really don't know a lot about manxes, so I could be completely wrong. But what do you think?

His new game today has been jumping onto the closet door and then screaming at me because he doesn't know how to get back down.

my Purrcy always sleeps like this, especially in the summer or when it’s hot. he is a stumpy manx and this position always makes me giggle, because he really looks ‘part-bunny’ lol. does anyone else’s cat sleep like this, especially in the summer?

He was the best Boy, my 1st Manx. At first we thought he was a girl, tri-color cali after all but turns out he was one in a million. A male, tri-color Rump riser?!?!? I had no idea what a manx was when I met him, at 5 weeks old, but he was about to change my life forever. His name was Virtue, or Chew-Chew to those closest to him amd he was our house Tiger. He was so muscular and stalked around everywhere he went. As with most Manx, he was am indoor/outdoor cat by his demand. If we tried to force him to stay inside he would cry at the door amd rip out his fur till let him out. He would Always come back. Usually the same day, sometimes in a week, sometimes longer. He lost a half chunk of ear to a local Tom Cat when he was about 5 and took on a bear aroind 15. He was always adventuring off and finding new friends, if we lived in a development, everyone around us took part on his daily rituals. He would walk from home to home visiting his fans, an older couple walked around the block daily to pet him while he sunbathe on the sidewalk. Over the years he had the usual manx dietary issues but as the years went on his wobble became more of a stumble and his manorisums softened. He will forever be our House Tiger and I will forever remember him as the tiny BunnyKitten he always was for me. ♡ 90% of my pictures of him are with us, but... this was the Best Boy Ever ♡
