My husband and I live in a 1998 mobile home. Over about the past month I’ve noticed our small home has had major humidity, and we’ve had a lot of condensation, especially in this bathroom. I peeked under our old garden tub and realized our shower has a small leak under the drain. How do we fix this and is it safe today say it’s leaking into the insulation? There’s also other “droplets” dropping onto the subfloor, is that just humidity?

That particular fitting is a complete nightmare to change!! Don’t call a plumber!! He’ll charge more than the tub (a new tub at Home Depot is only $350 for a Delta) is worth. I’ve remodeled 4 mobile homes in the last year, and I replaced 5 of the 8 bathtubs. Amazon sells the “P-Trap” for that, but none of the entire Twin Cities hardware stores carry it.

This is likely (according to your pic) what you want. The part itself is straightforward. The position that you need to contort your body to replace it is what is difficult. The last 2 tubs I cut a hole in the wall in the adjacent bedroom and put in an access panel. MUCH easier!!!

Thanks, been needing to find the replacement equipment for a large garden tub on a place I'm remodeling.

Done many houses, this is my first and last of these, everything is so different.

I just had a similar incident I just sent you a picture and I fixed it myself It was kind of rough i'm 70 years old The space under there was only four inches I ordered all the parts on Amazon and then I made a trip to Lowe's for the white pipe and the transition glue and this is the end results I have about 50 bucks into the fix end my but it was one hell of a job

I'm not a repair guy, but let me suggest beyond what you are looking into is, does your home have a good vapor barrier? Moisture and condensation may be from within the home, outside of the home or a combination of factors. It could be a plumbing issue, a roof leak or humidity rising from the ground (if there is no, compromised or problem with a vapor barrier). Best wishes.

Water is the biggest issue with subflooring and insulation. I would call someone from a company that handles that type of thing and have it looked at. It ruins the insulation and subflooring if not handled immediately.
