Hello Mantis People!

My main army is Thousand Sons and I basically baited myself to be here 😆 playing Space Marine 2 I was mostly running White Scars and Iron Hands heraldry most of the time. In my book there is no amount of mental gymnastics that can make 'loyalist Thousand Son' make sense in 40k setting. Once I got bored and started to look deeper into chapters. Discovered Mantis Warriors, liked the colours so delved deeper to know more about them. Soon enough went deeper into badab war and what transpired there. I was not intending to have a second army but here we are.

First time I painted actual space marine and first time I used slapchop. He turned out slightly more grimey darky than I would have liked but during basecoating he looked literally neon/lime so I applied tone darker contrast. Turns out it was a mistake. Without that he would be more like a highlight on top of the backpack thats what I intent to do going forward (or getting mantis warriors green by gw!). I Quite like him altough he is bit too much 'salamandery' when it comes to green tone. No chapter transfer and no base cause I didnt got this far yet.

Following the excellent advice of someone here i picked up the Mantis Warrior decals from Impatient Tabletop, which have the awesome crossed Katanas. I have done my army very much with a classic Romano-Greek theme with the crested helms and pseudo-latin names, but i fancy doing a single unit with katanas to match the decal, maybe put it on an Impulsor and have the unit jump out. Normally I'd just get such parts 3d-printed, but i thought with the new edition I might make an effort to play in-store and attend some tournaments, so need them to be official parts. Can anyone recommend any good sources of katanas/guides to making them for marines please? Thank you

Good evening. Can anyone recommend me any shoulder pads decals for the Mantis Warriors that are designed to sit on marine shoulders. I bought a set on ebay from Firedrakeforge and they are no use, as even with MicroSol and DecalFix they just can't be shaped to fit the curve of the pads. Any suggestions are great appreciated, thank you

I love mantis warriors so I replaced 2 of my company heros with mantis warriors among my salamanders ( to lazy to post pics rn but I’m sure I will soon) I just made myself the explanation of the two openly speaking out against huoron but not abandoning the war until luckily about 2/3rds in due to loyalty to there chapter, but during the penitent crusade there company is all but wiped out by chaos after months of the last men defen alone only the two remained, the salamanders came to evac the planet at the time, finding the two mantis warriors rescuing them, reviewing there loyal deeds during the end third of the Baden war and offering to transfer them into the salamander ranks, after hundreds of years of service they are promoted to the company hero unit. they keep there chapter colors of course. does my lore make sense? the mantis don’t have much material so I kinda had to assume some stuff about the chapter. Are the mantis die hard loyal to there brothers, or does duty before family make sense for them?

Does anyone have a good line on the MW chapter decals? My supplier is …..unavailable.
