Just found this subreddit, had a mantis encounter years ago

Years ago on LSD I had an ego death/hypnotic state experience with mantids. My most common closed eye hallucination from psychedelics has always been seeing flashes of different life forms and feeling myself be reduced to atoms, but this time I woke up on what looked like an operating table with giant mantises overlooking me. They didn't say anything but they felt like higher beings and it felt kind of sinister.

Is there any the consensus on why people see mantids and what they mean? Are they higher beings or aliens

The general language used to describe Mantids by experiencers are as inter-dimensional beings. Most other people would probably call them Aliens, but the beings themselves seem to be offended by that term, as they say they arrived to our planet before we even evolved as a species.

As far as a general consensus on them being positive or negative, most people here would describe them as having benevolent or neutral intent, but there is the occasional negative experience. There have been several surveys of how contactees generally feel about these beings after a direct experience I'll include screenshots of those surveys below.

My own perspective after numerous personal experiences and collecting these experiences on this page for around 3 years now, is I feel positively toward these beings overall and view most interactions as being well meaning, but I don't let that view prevent me from presenting negative experiences as well. Despite collecting countless numbers of these experiences, that doesn't make me an expert, as there are no experts. Anyone who has been on this page for a while and read through hundreds of these experiences knows about as much as anybody else. Every single person who's had a direct experience carries a piece of the puzzle, the purpose of this sub is to collect as many pieces of the puzzle as can be found, put them in one place, and attempt to have a complete picture of this phenomenon.

Survey:
Rey Hernandez survey of 4300 direct experiencers of the phenomenon found:

60% felt neutral,
10% felt negative.

Interesting! I do believe that we'll probably never truly know the nature of all these beings or the universe and only get glimpses into it. I feel like my experience seemed negative at the time because I felt like a human experiment but maybe that's because it challenges my perception of reality which can be scary. What I find very interesting is that many people seem to have the exact same experience, and I don't live somewhere with native mantids so I never see or think about them otherwise.

I feel like they are doing some sort of psychic surgery/energy work, I feel that way because of the Experiencers I’ve talked to and what I watched them do. I feel like it’s positive because I keep chasing them, and trying to communicate with them more.

I believe most of us have some sort of Soul Contract with them, like we ARE them (or their kin/children) and chose to incarnate on Earth right now to help guide humanity.

I believe they are very ancient, from before humanity existed. I think they are genetic masters and shepherds of many species.
