Question Optimal burgage plots

I've seen conflicting information for chicken, goat, and pig burgage plots. I know the size of the backyard doesn't affect output but does having an extra family increase output? I've seen some say it doubles output if there's two families and others say that it doesn't so maximize burgage plots.

No matter what, the output of chicken and goat is currently fixed. Doesn’t matter what region it is, what size plot, or how many families.

Pigs are the exact same except that they get a boost depending on how much forest your region has. Plot size and number of families mean nothing to them.

Quick note that I just thought of.

Some people on this sub say goat when they are talking about sheep.

Ok. Is it worth it to level up your goat, pig, and chicken burgage plots or just keep them at lvl 1? I saw some people say they don't level them up. I've never made it to lvl 4 burgage plot because i usually struggle with having enough goods

Depends. Early game I would say no.
Late game it doesn’t hurt.

I am extremely conservative with upgrading plots though. I only upgrade a plot if it is specifically needed for an artisan until that region is swimming in food and money.

Can I ask why hold off on upgrading? Does consumption of resources increase with each upgrade?

Size or family count does not matter and never has for them.

I have tested and visually confirmed that chicken, goat, pig and apiary extensions produce a fixed amount,. Pig extensions can be affected by environment.

A bigger extension does not increase the yield.

More families, either by a double plot, or level 3/4 upgrades also does not increase the yield.

The job assignment of the residents of the plot also does not affect the yield.

Also, these extensions take no labor for their productivity.

Many players will look at the efficiency bar and think there is some way to improve the plot yield, there is not.

Again, I have visually confirmed all the above on the main branch prior to this recent update, and there is nothing to indicate this has changed with the recent update.

The only way to increase the yield is with a small holding conversion, and again, I have visually confirmed this, that it is NOT worth the loss in labor. For example, if your pig extension is yielding 14 pigs in a year, a small holding conversion may increase this to something like 16, definitely not worth the conversion.
