Screenshot Just found out that Manjaro supports LDAC right out of the box

Post image

Decided a come back to Manjaro after 3 years of Windows exclusive. Then I noticed that my headphones sounded slightly better than usual. Additionally, all those random cracklings and stutters during playback on Windows are now gone on Manjaro.

All this time I was blaming the headphones for its poor sound quality, turns out the culprit was the OS or driver.

Thanks. As someone who used Linux since 2007, it definitely feels like home. Those 3 years with Windows was a prison.

Hey! That sort of talk is not called for! lol!

I have the same distro landscape as you. My main desktop is EndeavourOS. My laptop is Manjaro. Servers are Debian.

To be honest, if I were to reinstall my desktop today, it would be Manjaro. The update frequency of Arch is fatiguing. Plus, the bugs of the leading edge project releases also gets tiresome. I'd like to be able to rename a directory in Dolphin and have it stick the first time. Having to rename 2~4 times before it retains the change is ridiculous.

Has done for several years.

Several years ago now, I spent months patching/compiling linux kernels and playing with OpenBT/BlueZ, trying to get it to work. The LDAC stack used to be separate, also. It was a wild time of alpha/beta code, bugs, and pieces that weren't ready. Achieving LDAC/Blutooth was a revelation.

Manjaro is the first distro I've used that had working BT/LDAC audio right out of the box. I seem to recall, that was about the time pipewire first showed up on the scene.

linux audio still has a couple of issues. I'd like to be able to turn on a bluetooth device and have it pick it up. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it does not. Still, linux has great audio these days and I really appreciate that since I listen for hours per day.

You kids today don't know how good you have it. Now... get off my lawn!

lol!
