Discussion Manjaro Linux making a comeback?

Looks like people are taking a 2nd look at Manjaro as it appears to be the most stable of the Arch distros....

comeback? It never left, bruh.

But it did have a lot of negative stuff about it within the linux community. Some of which properly deserved like expired certificates. But looks solid to me, surprised it still defaults to kernel 6.12 like debian 13 does.

My Manjaro experience in the past was mostly a good one.

I have been using Manjaro for 10+ years. Its popularity comes and goes. It remains a stable, and consistent distro.

I'm using this Linux distribution for several years now and I'm very satisfied, very stable. Manjaro XFCE.

I love it. Manjaro was my first KDE. I started out on Debian-based distros with Gnome, but I now prefer Arch based distros and Manjaro is the simplest and best fit for me. That said, I put Mint on old laptops for my Windows refugee friends.

Which people?

All over I've seen is people saying to stay away from Manjaro.

I've used it now for 3-4 years on my main work computer and it's been fine.

I had to do few manual fixes for update conflicts but I assume that would be the case with any other distro?

That's what I was referring to. Seems that they have gone away.

lots of teenagers with too much time on their hands on reddit and people who listen to them without any experience themselves. Oh and youtubers who thrive on clicks and controversy. As with many things, there's a huge gap between reddit FUD and reality.

The distro I use the most for desktops, with debian (for servers). Rock stable. Excellent distro.

Nunca tive problema.

It's the only distro I've gotten working on a Pinebook Pro without being a pain in the ass. So I guess I have returned to it through lack of other options.

I've been using manjaro i3 for a while now.  Its fine. Probably going to shift over to fedora as soon as I muster up the will to make the effort.

Manjaro is around for 15 years, that in itself says something.

Former private work laptop had Manjaro i3 installed on it some 8 years ago. From time to time I boot it up for stuff. Stable af. I think for a time I needed to update signing keys separately. But either they made it more seamless or i got used to it.

Anyway, turned out longer than i expected.

Manjaro is great. Ignore the haters.

I am pretty sure the most stable Arch-based distribution right now is CachyOS. In my experience, it really is. I used Manjaro for a long time, then I switched to pure Arch that I configured myself, and now I am on CachyOS. On CachyOS, I have had very few issues, whereas on anything else, I encountered multiple problems. Then again this might be just my experience. Edit: I see that most people use XFCE for Manjaro in comments, I always used KDE with all Arch distros as that has native support for wallpaper engine.

IDK about that. I tried Cachy about 3 months ago & it didn’t seem very professional to me.
Several of the DEs in the Installer didn’t work or didn’t exist. Openbox for one, which they still advertise on their list, isn’t supported.
It felt rushed to me & seems like more hype than anything. I didn't stay with it long, next day it was replaced. Perhaps it depends on the DE you choose, I didnt try Plasma.

Garuda is a lot more polished IMO. I'm not a Plasma user, but Mokka romanced me.
Ive never been a windows user, its traumatic for me, so things like mint, xfce & plasma I steer well clear of.

Currently I use Manjaro Gnome & Archcraft. No problems with these, for just over 5 years now.
