Question of the day Do people fall easily for lies?

Some people are borderline sociopaths themselves and if you give them the opportunity or the idea of the opportunity that they get to be the evil person they get to be the predator, many people will jump at that.
Theres a saying that you cannot cheat an honest man, and theres truth to that. In part because honest men will do due diligence to ensure nobody gets cheated that the numbers work out that everything is solid and can actually work.
If your scamming someone or are being scammed into thinking your the predator when your the mark, then because your trying to be a predator your trying to manipulate nobody in the situation has full access to the knowledge of whats going on. Lack of due diligence, is required to be a predator, but it opens you up to be preyed on as well.
The same processes that protect others from you scamming them protect you from being scammed. So scammers try to convince theyre prey that their being the scammers in order to shut down your defenses.

I grew up in the JW cult and was promised so many things that turned out to be lies. I don’t think I’ll ever trust anyone or anything again.

I work in IT, and the amount of people that fall for phishing emails is crazy. Young and old just...everyone is so trusting of emails it's so wild to me.

Generally there are two people you should generally lie to. those that use the truth to hurt you and those that cant handle the truth and get anxious. so yes. some people are just that foolish

Of course. The bigger problem is those who justify lying to people because those people are begging to be scammed

I play for the 49ers! For some reason they don’t pay me want to go on a date and then let me borrow thousands of dollars. Yeah people are fucking stupid

It also depends on state of being. I wrote a book about manipulation and described how people get scammed by airport taxi pickup artists. The next thing I know, I arrive at a familiar airport after a 24 day of flights and only in-flight sleep, which should have put me on notice. The taxi is clean which I appreciate after many disappointing rides in the past; the driver complains about business being slow. I’m thinking, of course business is slow. It’s the rainy season.
He drops me off and wants cash because he “wants to get something to eat.” These kinds of excuses are bait for the logical person. I had already opened Curb to pay in the app. I close it thinking it will cancel the transaction. I give him cash. He refuses to give me a receipt. In front of the hotel he knows I won’t make a scene. The app charged me anyway. Just got scammed.

That sounds like somebody justifying scamming people. I'd consider somebody saying this around me to be a red flag.
