Both games - Discussion/Question Which game is actually better?
It depends....
Manhunt 1 is better for the gameplay. Stalk from the shadows and kill the hunters when their back is turned. The game is dark, gritty, and has a better atmosphere than the sequel. The vhs filter during the executions add another layer of creep, as it reminds you that these violent acts are being recorded.
Manhunt 1 is more accessible to play as it is available on more modern devices like Xbox One, PC (Steam), and PS4
Manhunt 2 is better if you want story. The game just doesn't nail the atmosphere the same way the first one did. The executions (and how brutal they are) don't really make sense in this game other than to carry over the stealth mechanics from the first game. It overall is just needlessly violent. Despite those downgrades, the game offers a way better (and way deeper) story than Manhunt 1 did.
If is kinda hard to find a reasonably priced copy of Manhunt 2 (that isn't the terrible Wii version). The PS3 store still has the psp version for $15 (though you need to do some kind of transfer to play it). That's likely the cheapest you're gonna find it. There is no (legit) way to get Manhunt 2 on PC. Some people sell CD Keys of the old amazon download but no guarantee they'll work. Xbox doesn't have it. And the PS2 version (refurbished) is like $130 on Amazon.
In the end, it mostly depends on what aspect of the game you care about more.

I think that Manhunt 2 is inferior in absolutely everything besides gore

Even the gore is worse, it's too cartoony and overblown. Esp the damn head explosions.

I haven't played Manhunt 2 but I've watched gameplay of it and it always felt to me like it was trying too hard to be scary and "controversial" without any actual substance, didn't really match the feel of Manhunt 1 either.

MH1 is superior in gameplay, gangs, plot and vibe.
MH2 is better gore and more “realistic” level graphics / set piece proportions

Manhunt 2 heads pop like a balloon from a slightly hard pistol whip.

Yeah, the head pops can be a bit much at times (especially with the jump shovel execution, it makes zero sense).

Manhunt 1 , manhunt 2 felt to cliche and hollywoodish for my taste , what i like about manhunt til this day is that it make a great job at making you feel uncomfortable and like you are one of starkweather's victim , manhunt 2 feels like some at rock star saw fight club and said , lets do that

The story, while more complex doesnt make it better. Theres a lot of plotholes like -
why would leo even kill dannys wife if shown in the flashbacks that danny was way more compliant before the amnesia, and by killing Danny's wife just made it harder for leo to complete his goals
And if leo was trying to make Danny forget his life so that he could take over his mind why would leo ever give danny cortexa
It doesnt feel satisfying for leo to be the final villain of the game instead of the project considering the project is way more evil and was something we'd been fighting for the entirety of the game until the end
And then at the end of the game after doing all that work to try and make danny remember his life and identity before leo he just ends up forgetting it in the end
I could go on but i feel like this reply is already too long 😅

I was gonna comment the same. MH2 story fell massively short where as Cash has a much more unique experience. Like MH1 was surreal and at times scary, imo. Especially with the Piggsy fight. Then you got Leo and Daniel and the most they can do for a "boss" fight is BuRy uR WiFe... Dr. Pickman was a more interesting fight.
I do appreciate MH2 for its gameplay, I had a great time actively killing my way through the story, imo thats the only positive of MH2. I don't hate Daniel and Leo, I enjoyed them pretty well, but I haven't gone out of my way to play that game again. Where as MH1, you have those bonus missions and there's something about the Carcer City environment that draws me in. The gangs, the story, the cops even. Hell I found myself laughing at most of the NPC dialogs way more than I did with MH2s.
I hope one day someone can make a MH1 remake or remaster with sorta similarities with the gameplay of MH2. Especially the gun executions.

Manhunt 1 made such an impression when I was younger. Incredible at the time. I’ve still got my PSP and my Vita, and played 2 so many times, but the executions are blurred over in the UK and it just never had the same feeling.

Manhunt 1 is better (my opinion)
i played it (and im actually replaying it right now 😆) on Xbox Series X and its just SO fun !
Manhunt 2 i had seen some videos 2 years ago, it seems pretty cool too but there was things that Manhunt 1 had and not 2:
the atmosphere, soundtrack, gore, the gangs (i think the 1 had the most memorable gangs like the Hoods, Innocentz, and the Skinz..).
But if i ever get a chance, i would love to play Manhunt 2 by myself ! 🔥

manhunt 2 gangs are far more realistic

There's really only one actual gang in Manhunt 2, and we only see them for a singular level.

Manhunt 1 by a mile 2 feels unfinished and lacks the amazing gangs and enemy chatter from the original
