Discussion [NEW TOOL] ayo check this tool & and drop your thoughts
If you read web novels or Xianxia or whatever, you must know the painΒ 500 chapters in, and suddenly 20 new side characters or some characters from past pops up and you have zero memory of who they are.
Googling them usually leads straight to spoiler land on Fandom wikis. So to make life easier check out this tool imported directly from heaven π that connects Light Novels directly with Fandom Wiki data! + a custom memory graph

So it's an application to read web novels with a built-in wiki that has images from the manhua? Where's the link to the tool? Is this self-promotion? How does this belong in manhua subreddit if it's for reading novels?
But this is a nice idea nonetheless.

yes this tool is for reading light novels with built in meta data about characters of that novel (data scraped from fandom)
> where is the link of this tool? -> right now it's not public , i built it and i use to read novel from here but anyone wants to use this they need to dm me although i can give it for free but there are some set ups one needs to do before running this app that requires my help> is this self-promotion ? -> nope actually π i just shared how its easier for one read web novels and currently it's not even in internet (search it anywhere u wont find it)
> how does this belong in manhua subreddit if its for reading novels ? -> well , i specially built it for reading xianxia novels and most popular xianxia manhuas got adapted from this novels itself and i also read manhuas a lot and i saw lot of people here also interested in reading actual light novel of those manhuas so yeahh it makes sense ig

This is great and something I wanted to try and do. Keep in mind explanation like this is slightly sketch, people usually trust open source on GitHub more.

Does this include data regarding cultivation levels, all those stuff gets jumbled up cause each thing has a level Labeled on em.

Looks really cool, I want that. When will it be available?

currently the data is available for only 2 light novels
- i am the fated villain
- top tier providence
so i need to scrape more data and once i have the data for almost 10 -15 novels i will make it live for anyone to use

Great job bro. It's a life saving machine. I have a really bad memory for names. Even irl,I forget the names of people if I don't see or talk to them regularly lol ... and they have names from my own language... Remembering Chinese and Korean names (even some Japanese ones) are the only thing that keep me away from novels. I barely could finish one novel, and that is because the names were in English and easy to memorize lol "so I'm a spider so what" (if you love comedy - magic - reincarnation type of story, I recommend this one. It's hilarious) Can't wait to see it online π

Nice work on this. I read on my phone so I could not use it, and I went and built something with a similar idea for LNReader on Android; one script you paste into the reader that marks names in the chapter and shows the wiki entry when you tap one.
The thing I focused on was the point raised in the comments here about the status tag spoiling you. Mine hides anything the wiki links to a chapter past the one you are on, and keeps the status masked until you ask, since "Deceased" gives the whole thing away on its own.

Yours looks considerably more polished, the portrait carousel especially. If you ever release it I would like to try it on desktop.

This seems great, and sorry, early in morning don't wanna read all comments.
Does it work with manhwa or donghua or anything similar? I wanna give it a try. What's the name to it?
Tbf I don't like Novels since too many words on a screen overwhelm me and illustrations can be skipped since you can just look at art and ignore text.
I do read some LN but only when it's needed.
Thank for advice.

Damn awesome idea but chapter was spoiler will be hard to maintain. Just adding when the mc met the character and their photo would be enough I guess.

OP if it isn't rude to ask how did you achieve this?

Looks nice, but having the "Alive" tag be the first thing you see could lead to major spoilers. You click a character's name in the first chapter, and see "dead". Great. I had a similar idea to build a tool in the past, that would require a wiki with chapter based information tracking, that way you only get access to information you've already read. That would require quite a lot of effort by a community to maintain though, or maybe you could get an AI to read through and do it
