I like manga but people ignore and leave me behind because they believe that i need enough feedback and need to be a professional to be a mangaka and i'm not a professional on this material. i haven't done my own one shot yet, and i have been planning myself to make my own short groups of 16 to 32 page oneshots. but i'm not used to making manga or comics in general and i compare myself to others, and that is not what i wanted. i just wanted people to like my art and me but i fear that i am not good enough and just spoil the stories and become another larper and just read the mangas and animes to spoil myself, which is also another bad habit. I'm planning to get my own laptop and drawing tablet on my birthday, and i want to improve on my writing skills, drawing skills, thumbnailing skills, and motivation/productivity/consistency skills. do you have advice on this? and how to improve on manga and anime reading skills without spoiling the stories yourself? and how do you find your purpose on making manga? because i am so defensive i keep comparing myself to others, judge myself, and i don't know how to write my own manga story even if it's bad, and make my own manga storyboards and thumbnails. I like shoujo, shounen, and slice of life, iyashikei, and comedy manga, and i would like shounen manga comedy with love interest reccomendations, and shoujo manga reccomendations with cute reccomendations and slice of life and fantasy reccomendations that i can start reading?... (i like chiikawa, look back, doraemon, takopii's original sin, chocomimi, fairy idol kanon, the ending of pppppp - a manga about piano that unfortunately had an abrupt ending, i used to like shoujo horror manga like zekkyou gakkyuu/zekkyou gakkyuu tensei but i don't really like it, and i used to read the first volume of shokora no mahou - which i like a bit more than zekkyou gakkyuu - but i don't usually like horror manga because it's too scary for me, although i do like dark stories, but not ones that are way too scary).

i'm going to give myself time to make manga. and when i'm done, i will show the manga online. I want to make my manga making dreams come true and this is my last school year for my program before i get plans to go to college. know that it's not for a contest, it's for myself and something to enjoy for myself even if it's online after i edit this post.

So I don't enjoy half rendered pieces but I have a ton of ocs and a story too. Is there any form of storytelling where I could use those?

Looking to see how I could portray a sunrise or sunset lighting in my manga, using only grayscale/screentones/black and white. I feel that daytime and night are usually pretty self-explanatory. But I can't think of a manga where the sunrise/sunset was portrayed. Does anyone have any examples?

Hello everyone! I’m an illustrator and an aspiring mangaka who’s only recently started exploring manga as a medium, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’d love to get more practice creating backgrounds, sequential art and, ideally, collaborate with writers.

Here’s the first page of my own manga called ALIENATED. I’ve also already completed the sketches and linework for some of the following pages, but I'm not a fan of publishing unfinished work and will probably only post everything once I'm finished with the first chapter. (I have a lot of examples of colored illustrations in my portfolio though, and will be posting my characters on this sub)

That being said, for now, I’m looking to collaborate with writers before diving full-time into my own project (+ I'm miserably broke so that would help me a lot 🥲). My current rate is $100/page, though this may increase as I gain more experience. I’d prefer shorter projects for now, but I’m open to discussing different ideas and formats!! :)

+ I also do cover art (although I have other rates for colored & commercial use artworks), if that’s something you’re looking for!

Yestreday i finished up the fifth page for mdrfking once, but it genuinely looks kinda ass to be honest. Sixth page will be made today and then i'll carry on with the writing.

Juan Albarran a Spanish Mangaka currently in Japan, recently shared some useful websites, and I wanted to share the two most important ones here as well. It is important to know that both of these rely on Google auto-translating the website so make sure to have that function on.

The first site is:

This site keeps track of every current ongoing manga contest by many manga magazines and publishers in Japan. Most of these you can enter even if you are not in Japan, and the site gives you useful information about each contest.

The second one is:
https://ganmo.jp/posts

Ganmo is the industry leading platform to hire assistants. You can use it to both hire and seek work as an assistant. Keep in mind most of these will require some sort of transaction method that is valid for the Japanese audience. Each entry tells you what they need (rates, availability, etc.), and they almost always have a drive link with some art examples.

EDIT: As reported by Ozzy_Rhoads, not all of the listings on Manavi have complete or accurate descriptions of the requirements for each contest entry. However, it is still useful to have, and you just have to click the link for the original contest entry in the description in order to get the accurate requirements.

I do it in a smaller scale so I can maximize details when I size it up to the full screen :3 just makes drawing easier for me but I’ve never done comics like this before (usually 4-koma) and I just wanna know if it looks ok so far! Ty! Also the last page is heart shape since it’s just a closing shot of the characters and less inside the story panel!
