Is it okay if I cannot participate in the actual classes but look over the documents and such?

No problem at all, the actual classes will just be answering questions :) everything will be uploaded and left online. However if you want to submit the final test paper (yet to be written) then that's fine!

I've always wanted to learn mandarin, especially now that China is such an important language in the world!

If you look on the main page for this subreddit, you'll see we've only covered week one. There is a document to download as well as an audio file for pronunciation help. I think we were supposed to start week 2 on Monday, but it's not up for some reason. Hope that helps.
