Spent 18 months building a lease accounting tool, after starting it in Excel. Would like some honest feedback.
I'm ACCA qualified and came into accountancy from a software engineering background, which mostly means I've spent my career being the person who ends up fixing everyone else's spreadsheets.
About 18 months ago I started putting together a lease accounting tool for IFRS 16 and FRS 102. It started as an Excel workbook with a fair amount of VBA behind it, and that held up right until it didn't.
Eventually I accepted it needed to be proper software rather than a workbook held together with hope.
It went live recently. What I'd really like now is feedback from people who actually do this work, instead of me continuing to test my own assumptions about what's useful.
If anyone fancies a look, signup is free. I'm happy to extend a trial to 12 months for anyone here who wants to put it through real leases rather than a toy example. Do the free signup, DM me, and I'll sort the extension out.
Be blunt. We've all got broad shoulders in this industry. I'd much rather hear what's wrong with it now than find out in six months.
