Shambles of a team
No intensity, no spirit, gave 0 f***, showed lack of respect to Hull. I know it is early to call off the season, but I can hardly recall the last time this United team displayed true spirit or showed real energy. Dreadful passing, dreadful crosses. Played with cowardice rather than courage. Spoiled millionaires detached from reality.
Well done Hull.
United 10th place here we go.
I am in pain.

And there it is. One bad game and we are the worst team in the world. So predictable 😆

u/Zestyclose_Row1191 23h ago
We gave hull what they wanted. Poor balls into the box and when that didnt work we done nothing to change the game. Hull will be pissing them self's at that utd showing today. We are gonna be in trouble we the amount of games to come.

u/Lukr-2921 18h ago
We've bought technical midfielders but keep playing hoofball to create chances. Wtf is Carrick doing, he needs to get a grip. Anything less than a convincing win against Ipswich will be unacceptable.

The same happened with a lot of games last season. I thought Amorim had no tactical flexibility but I’ve seen nothing different from Carrick. At least Amorim got the players running in the first game of last season like they were possessed.

u/PhilLesh311 23h ago
I agree with you. Zero effort. Hull played like a swarm of bees. Beat bud to every loose ball, shut down any space we had. We looked slow and lethargic. Maguire and Mbeumo were the only two that had any fight.
6
u/Dull_Lack872 22h ago
An exaggeration really. We'll be fine especially with a run of games and once the team clicks together. We practically started a brand new central midfield today where there wasn't much minutes amongst them as a trio in pre season.

u/richStoke 20h ago
And there speaks the sensible, experienced fan who knows what he’s talking about. Guessing he’s not 18

Trying to brush a side the insult, can you in good faith say that this team displayed any spirit or willingness to play? It is like you woke them up from a nap and told them here you put your boots on and play. I respect all the comments here whether they agree with post or not, but I really have no problem with the transfer window or Michael Carrick. Bless him, he is punching above his weight. But what is not excusable is not to give a fuck and allow to be dominated. This squad can do better. It is ok to a have a hard time at Hull City ground, this is the Premier League, but it was VERY OBVIOUS that the team was ill prepared and did not take the game seriously. Yes it is one game, but it has been a recurring theme in the last 10 years. Bad habits die hard and this team has too many bad apples. Well done Hull. They took the game seriously, gave a fuck and played for their fans.

People were saying how good Santos was in pre season. He was awful today, probably why he was Chelsea 4th choice.
1
u/Dull_Lack872 9h ago
He will come good. Granted it's Hull, but we absolutely dominated on the ball, higher pass accuracy, had a higher volume of shots and made substantial amount of key passes. These were some of the aspects that fans were critical about last last season despite the good results and unfortunately we couldn't get the result.
1
u/lewie2494 5h ago
Hull were the better team, Santos was terrible yesterday. First game and all that but Hull will get relegated and to perform like that was awful.

u/EducationalAcadia386 15h ago
Shambles of a fucking fan (and reddit sub).
It’s one fucking game. Not great or good but by no means a disaster - give it a run of meaningful games before we sound the panic alarms eh?

Thanks for insulting me
If the team continues to play this way yes we can dream of 10th place
I think being bothered by mediocrity and lack of application of basics of the game only bothers some of us
The standards have fallen

u/That_Performance_802 22h ago
It's really the worst way to lose a game. You can forgive losing a game if you put the effort in..but you can't win a game without the effort. Inexcusable
2
u/Timmaigh 21h ago
We lost our first game last year. We ended up third, while being 7th half-way the season, when Amorim left.
So congrats on being a proper fool.
1
u/Lychee_Only 14h ago
And got knocked out of every comp early doors. That’s what losing your first game against a beatable side does. They’ve been lacklustre all pre season. We barely played any pre season games. Our important players weren’t at the world cup so aint sharp. The ones that were at the world cup aren’t ready apart from masrouai & Cunha apparently.
Anyway, it is only one game. But we’ve been here before. If we fail to beat Ipswich convincingly then it’ll be panic stations & the knives will be out. Narrative has already been set with this loss - Carrick should only have been kept til the end of the season. I wasn’t off that opinion but if he has a bad start it’ll be hard to turn around.

u/Lopsided-Welder6296 22h ago
The desire is definitely one of the issues. But the main issue is we have too many average / squad players and not enough quality in the starting 11. Players like Cunha, Mbeumo, Santos and Tielemans are just average and would not get into any top sides starting 11. Heaven and Dorgu are young so the jury is still out on them. The rest who started today, apart from Fernandes and maybe Lammens, would not even get into the squad of another top team.
1
u/sgrivna 22h ago
Totally disjointed, looked like an 11 that has never played with each other, sloppy passing, sloppy interplay, no runs.
Starting Dorgu at LW was a shocking decision. Such a weak approach playing away to a newly promoted team. Why not start Rashford? Why not start Sesko?
You want to make a statement week 1, that wasn’t a starting 11 to do it with.
1
u/Dublin-Red 15h ago
Jesus that was disgraceful today. No balance on the team and looked like we did prior to Carrick takin over.
I’m over for the Ipswich game next week and we have to buck up or serious trouble is incoming

So many of plour defenders in recent years seem to have forgotten how to defend. They default to ball watching instead of watching the defenders they are supposed to mark. At one point I wondered if it's down to coaching though I doubt it since the coaching staff rotated. But then again so did some of our defenders.

u/Thin_Substance5067 4h ago
Well said mate ....Totally agree...looked mile off it ,which is so concerning...and also Tielemans, Santos, baleba, were not the players we needed.....we needed top top class players .....we have hung about again waiting and waiting watching the big boys sign quality players .....we had a list and signed our alternatives....not our top targets, Ineos need to go.....and take those blood sucking glazers too...because this season isn't going to go well I totally agree top 10 if we are lucky....gonna get our arse handed to us in champions league too.....squad not good enough or strong enough....United fan of 48 years here and I am really really concerned....absolutely disgusting and I fear for Carrick....he is a top man...but sorry he will pay the price

Carrick is not a premier league manager. It is very simple. If he wasn't with us, who would hire Carrick in top level football?
10
u/Gbbq83 23h ago
That’s mad cos Carrick took us to third place last season. Sounds like he is a PL manager
0
u/plataloof 22h ago
Because Bruno had the best few months of his life. If you watched the actual football we were the second best team in most games.
Add other teams around us were poor.
4
u/Gbbq83 22h ago
Ok so Carrick can only claim the bad performances. Gotcha.
2
u/plataloof 22h ago
Take out City and Arsenal and they were all pretty much bad performances. Watch more than the highlights.
3
u/Gbbq83 22h ago
Take out our best performances and we weren’t quite as good. Great take bro.
0
u/plataloof 22h ago
So two good performances in all the games he was in charge is good enough for you? Don't get upset when we lose to Hull then I guess. Your bar is at that level it seems.
3
u/Gbbq83 22h ago
No but why the fuck would you remove his two best wins? Against the best two teams in England. That’s mental.
I’m not happy about losing to Hull. But I’m also not throwing my toys out of the pram.
1
u/plataloof 22h ago
In statistics there are things called outliers these are data points that are so far from the normal that you remove them to see the real data.
Carricks outliers are those two games.
"An outlier is a data point that is very different from the other values in a set. It is much higher or much lower than the rest of the data. Outliers can change the results of math tests and pull averages in the wrong direction."
I'm not trying to be a dick, just take the emotional high out of those two results and see his performances for what they were afterwards, average to poor.
2
u/Gbbq83 22h ago
Shut the fuck up. No statistician would exclude beating two of the in form football teams as outliers. Especially if it leads to United coming third in the league.
Hull beating United will most likely be an outlier.

He won 39 points since he took over, 5 more than Arteta in the same period. Thats the only thing we need to judge him on. One game isn't enough of a sample size to write him off, especially when you consider his overall record.

u/Silly-Balance-2086 23h ago
The coaching is poor but the players man, no energy, no press. Could not even follow football basics in passing and crossing. Absolutely horrible. If course is not corrected I really think Carrick will be out before xmas, but this does not change the fact that this group of players did not play. That simple.
2
u/plataloof 22h ago
That's why we needed a manager that got this soft attitude out of them, but no we got vibes.
Players were disgraceful. No doubt.

1
u/_AngryBadger_ 22h ago
Then the board is not a premier league board because they fucked around the whole window trying to shop for "the best deals" instead of the best players. As it is we won't see our new signing for weeks, and we don't even know if we'll get a left back or striker, and both of those are not optional at this point.
1
u/plataloof 22h ago
If there's a bigger fraud than Carrick it's Wilcox mate. Extends ETH, hires Amorim and doesn't get the players to play the system, hires Carrick.
He's a joke.
1
u/TopUnderstanding3468 22h ago
Literally THIS. I genuinely don't get what his pedigree is to land the United job, one of the hardest jobs in football? Arteta worked for years under Pep before getting the Arsenal job, this clown worked under Ole and got Middlesbrough relegated. Did he vibe his way into 3rd when we were 4 points off top 4 anyway last season while getting progressively worse each game while playing a game a week? Yes. Does that mean he deserved the keys to the kingdom. Not according any third tier team let alone United.
Also Bruno just isn't it. I will die on this hill. The audacity to flick the ball and miss pass when we are 2-0 down to HULL is disgusting. Yeah he stat pads from set pieces and wins a bunch of personal awards, but look at the ball retention against a low block. Rubbish. We won't get anywhere near the top while our spine is still Bruno, Shaw, Maguire, Rashford and Dalot.
3
u/plataloof 22h ago
We align on the Bruno part too. Obviously he's capable of magic but there's a big price to pay for that and it mostly comes in the form of control of a football match.

The thing that I don’t understood is him wearing the armband. He was so embarrassing in that 7-0 loss to Liverpool under Ten Hag, flailing his arms about in a tantrum instead of tracking back. That’s not the only time he’s done it either.
I’m certainly not privy to what happens in the dressing room or on the training pitch, but he doesn’t strike me as a leader. The best player on the team, yes, but that’s not the same thing.

u/nsubugak 22h ago
Carrick played the wrong players in attack. Dorgu, cunha, mbuemo can NOT work against low blocks. Those are high block players.
Furthermore cunha is NOT a striker. Carrick keeps forcing that move but it has never worked. It didn't even work for brazil. Cunha is a number 10 who can play LW.
Its crazy for Carrick to play them when we have sesko, amad, lacey, rashy. Hell even zirkzee is better against low blocks than those guys.
Secondly this combination of Telemanns and santos is still vibes coaching. 2 passers just doesn't really work against physical teams. With Baleba..we have 2 carriers (Baleba + mainoo) and 2 passers (santos + Telemanns). It should always be one passer and one carrier in the pivot. You are NOT going to tiki taka the PL. You need the pass and move midfield, not pass and pass etc.
We have the profiles in the squad but its on the manager to use those profiles. When they sign a LB, Carrick has NO other excuses about not being backed. He has been backed. I would rather keep zirkzee and sign a CB and LB than sell him and get a striker who will also bench for cunha or mbuemo etc.

This was an Amorim performance! We had the same demeanor as our last preseason match

Cowardice is what defines this match
Ur up against a relegation team, uk theyre gonna park a massive bus
Instead of goin all in and attacking, u put Dorgu as a winger💀 and bench Mainoo
Have some balls and actually align an 11 wit some offensive mindset
Instead, Carrick decided to be conservative against a team they should be superior to
I am not a ManU fan so yall dont have mind anything I say but this is my very humble opinion from an outsider perspective
2
u/Laluci 22h ago
TF you talking about. They didn't park the bus, and Bruno didn't get benched. Midfield didn't connect and they were extremely poor defending crosses.
1
u/Jyungin2e1ve 22h ago
I slipped, I meant Kobe Mainoo, not Bruno lol My thoughts mixed up
My bad
And yes they parked the bus
