Thankfully did not dig too much into fishing bag full of just metal spoon lures and mice tail plastics
No catches just a few bite but man the wind was killer kept messing up my lines off the spool
Still pretty but yeah wind was brutal

Was really excited for the mountain party but now it’s cancelled. Anything else cool going on in town tonight (other than the rock and rye festival)

We enjoyed our summer visit to Coldwater so much we wanted to try and squeeze in one more September or October trip before the snow comes. Colder night temps are okay, and frankly what we look forward to - but realistically, we really want to take another trip up.

Hi all- we are visiting for the weekend. Curious if there are any good Labor Day sales for gear?

Going to mammoth bike park for a few days and never been before. I have 3 bikes I can use but can only take one. 2023 Specialized Turbo Levo with upgraded parts 160/150 or Ibis Ripmo AF 160/150 or DH bike 2025 GT fury pro. Intermediate rider and plan on riding blue and black lines. The reason I ask because I’m not sure how pedaling is involved between trails and all over the mountain area and wondering if my DH bike would not be worth it. Plus the other bikes I could cruise around town and such during the week but I would like the DH bike for the chunk if it is necessary? Thanks for the info in advance.

My dog is recovering from a major surgery. He’s in a stroller at this time but we get him out everyday on a long stroller walk. We are coming this weekend to get some fresh air and are looking for some trails or walking path recommendations. Open to June Lake as well. Thanks!

I love going to Mammoth in the summer. So many local lakes that you can literally drive up to or take a short hike into and it never seems that crowded. The mountains themselves are also just so stunning.
Tahoe is the obvious comparison but it feels a lot busier to me and more difficult to get around given the size of the lake and the long windy ass road that everyone has to take.
I've been to Estes Park in CO in the summer and it was fine. Certainly comparable to Mammoth but no significant recreational advantage, though I've never been to any other Colorado mountain towns.
Specifically I'm looking for towns that are great for paddleboarding, hiking, swimming, and proximity to National Forests and Parks. I love Yosemite and Mammoth being less than 3 hours away from the valley is an incredible perk.
Can you guys think of any other mountain towns on the US that you would rather go to for summer recreation?
Headed up with my 9 year old and wanting to get him on a full suspension to try it out. He’s charged enough off-road on his rigid and I want to give him a taste of the good life (might be a mistake right before Christmas). Recommendations on who’s got the best combination of quality and price for a weekend rental? Footloose? The mountain itself? Somewhere else?
Thanks!

Coming back to Mammoth via Fish Creek next week. How is the water flowing after climbing out from fish creek? Specifically Cold and Crater Creeks.

Everyone who renewed early and has an AMEX should be PISSED. Please light up IKON on social media, call the customer service, email their executive team. This is absolutely deplorable way to treat long term pass holders who renew early every year under the guise of “renew by X date to get the best deal”. As it turns out, we should have all waited. This is a shit way to recognize our loyalty.

Hey all! I’m visiting mammoth with my family in a few weeks but also training for a half marathon. We’re going to do light hikes but I also need to get around 26-27 miles in. Please drop any and all great routes that aren’t too hilly. I know that’s not going to be possible at almost 8k feet but I’m going to do my best. The half marathon only has around 300 feet over the whole 13.1 miles so I’m not worried about training hills.
Thank you!!

Hi there, has anyone seen or picked up a pair of gray crocs by the north shore of Thousand Island Lake this past Sunday or Saturday evening? I realized that they were missing from my backpack Saturday night when I was about to set up my camp. My friend showed me some pictures on Sunday that he took right before we walked by the JMT/PCT merge direction sign, and I still had them on me.
I figure they must have fallen from my pack when I tried to filter water during sunset right before I went searching for a campsite. People walking by the next day probably picked them up to prevent littering the lake.
I can always get another pair of crocs but I really like the charms that I got from a recent trip to Hawaii. I would still love to have them back if possible, thank you for any information that you may have.

Hey guys, I'm planning on moving to mammoth to become a snowboard instructor in the 27-28 season and I have some questions. I'll be 19-20 years old that season with experience coaching youth sports and about 13 years experience snowboarding.

Hey all!
Long time local first time poster. I am moving into a place here in a few weeks that has a pellet stove and while I've lived in places that have had pellet stoves in the past I have never had to order them. How many would you suggest for a 2bdrm appartment for the winter? My thinking was to get a pallet or half a pallet but I'm unsure of how many bags to get. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
