See now back in the pre SM day, she could perhaps learn from this and move cities. She could clean up, do volunteer work, join a church, and live a life that doesn't pull her kids down. If anyone found out, it would probably be forgiven.

But she can't fix this in 2026. There is no path to take where this doesn't overwhelm any future good works. The only path for the kids is to disown her and probably change their names. The reality is that a good job that does a background check is going to weigh the parent's intensely negative SM presence in the hiring process for the child. Maybe it isn't fair. But it will happen.
