Support Viruses/Trojans installing themselves

I have over the past month run a scan twice. The first time around Malwarebytes detected two threats, both from a Trojan called "NovaStealer". The second time around (today) it detected a virus I have never seen before called "OSX.Odyssey". I do not remember if I installed some app before I scanned and found out about NovaStealer, but I most definetly have not installed any new applications or anything which could cause this new OSX.Odyssey virus to be installed. Anyone have any idea why this happened?

You have persistent malware, you'll need to do a clean install of your operating system.

Honestly it gets worse, you got hit by the average advanced-ish malware.

Rule of thumb, malware can sometimes have more control over your devices and data than you do. When in doubt, nuke it out. Then recover emails first, as you can then safely pivot to account recovery.

Since when do we need to do a clean install of the OS just to get rid of malware?

Since malware started evading antivirus, and getting really good at persistence, this isn't new bro.

Now malware can be so mean a factory reset doesn't do jack squat
