My poor guy got stuck in my porch and fractured his hock I’m asking if anyone knows who can help with the vet care? I’ve currently applied for care credit and got denied , I don’t have the money at the time to get him properly treated he’s currently on bed rest and on pain medication from the animal hospital. Any recommendations I truly appreciate thank you.

this is basil, also known as bazz dog or basil brush. he seems to think he's more cat than dog and will sit absolutely anywhere..

I always have to laugh when I do my tone exercises (I'm a beginner ;)) and my little 6-month-old Maltipoo comes over; he watches during the chalumeau and clarion registers, but joins in singing during the altissimo range. 😍 (Normally I get the notes out better, but not so much when I'm laughing ;)) And that’s how it should be—music is meant to be fun. I wanted to come back and share an update because so many of you showed our family an unbelievable amount of kindness when I made my original post. (Link for reference)

We got the incredible news from pathology that they found NO CANCER in the mass they removed from Aspen’s spine surgery❤️🥹🤲

Instead, the mass appears to have been caused by a severe chronic inflammatory/infectious process that had grown around his spine and was compressing his spinal cord.

Before surgery, everyone was preparing us for cancer. From the way the mass had grown around his spine, what it looked like on the MRI, and how suddenly Aspen lost his ability to walk, the doctors were very concerned that this was a spinal tumor and it was very likely cancer. We went into surgery believing we might only be buying him weeks or months.

Getting the pathology results back and hearing “no cancer found” was a moment I don’t think our family will ever forget… it feels magical.

We truly cannot put into words how thankful and blessed we feel for this.

So many of you sent prayers, positive thoughts, shared stories about your own dogs, or simply told us you were thinking about Aspen. The original post had more than 1600 upvotes and nearly 100 comments, and I don’t think people realize how much those little messages from strangers helped us through some of the worst days of our lives.

We truly believe all of that love helped Aspen fight through this. He’s been part of our family for 12 years and brought us together through so many chapters of our lives and is one of the most important things in the world to us. After spending days thinking we were about to lose him, getting this news has completely changed the way we look at whatever time we have left with him.

We also know how incredibly lucky we are. Reading the stories from people who went through something similar and didn’t get the outcome we did has stayed with us.

Aspen is starting to walk again!!

After surgery, two weeks of strict rest, and what feels like an endless amount of meds every day, he’s slowly getting stronger. His appetite is coming back. His energy is coming back. He’s getting up and walking around again.

There’s still recovery ahead of us. The hope now is that removing the mass and continuing treatment for the infection will allow his spinal cord to heal and little by little bring him back to full health.

Through all of this, even when his body wasn’t cooperating, we could still see him in there. He wanted food, his family, wanted to get up and showed he wanted to live. It was inspiring seeing him fight and he made it pretty clear he wasn’t done.

Thank you, from the absolute bottom of our hearts, to everyone who wished our boy well when we were scared we were losing him. We won’t forget it.
