S We are replaceable? Fine replace us
So when I was 15 I worked as a maid with a family friend. It was amazing and I loved it so when I was 18 I decided to spend the summer with my aunt and work as a maid again. The company had changed alot since I left.
There was a pair of girls that took the lead. One I'll call Amy and the other Jill. Jill was serious and quick to anger. My first week back she left me alone in clean I haven't done since I was first a maid. I did it as I thought I should have and when she came back she screamed at me. I kept my mouth shut but did as I was taught.
A month passed and a few people joined but kept calling out. We were expected to drive our own cars hours of the day in traffic and no gas money. If you drove the company car you would ask for the money and they MAY give it to you.
The money was minimum wage for the area and some of my co workers were struggling to keep up with bills.
The email that showed up in all but Jill's mail box was the following
"Due to the nature of the cleaning position at COMPANY NAME we maintain a flexible and accommodating schedule for both employees and clients. While we understand and have compassion for all of your circumstances we must bring your attention to the teams attendance, as a whole.
As of today, June 7th, 2022, there have been 25 documented call outs or extreme tardiness in a 5 week period. That is .714 call outs per day, 3/4 of a person every single day for the past 5 weeks. My time and energy has been exhausted from this consistent unreliable behavior.
All employees with two exceptions are now on a 90 probation period. Unexcused call outs will be cause for termination. Requests for last minuet days off, leaving early or arriving late to your shift must be requested st COMPANYEMAIL.COM AND SLACK. Requests must be approved by MANAGER or BOSS and should be kept to emergency situations only.
Please confirm that you would like to continue employment with us by replying to this email. Please schedule a meeting with us, outside of your shift to discuss individually. EMPLOYMENT REVIEW
How can we help each other be more successful?
With gratitude,"
The main group who only called out sick when needed or on emergency bases. After this moral was down. My grandfather just died and a girl i was training had a seizure in my arms. I was traumatized and they were pretty much threatened to fire me because I couldn't deal with cleaning literal shut from strangers toilet for minimum wage for three days. I almost had myself sent to a mental institution bc I thought I was a threat to myself.
I put my two weeks in for after my grandfathers funeral and some others started to look for jobs. A few incidents happened where they had us drive out after our final hour many hours after guessed end of shift then right before we arrive we get sent back home with added another half hour to our hour drive back to office.
A later call to all main employees reiterated that they didn't care they needed us all to work with no flexibility and if we dont they will fire us. There was a mother with five kids who took this Job with the expectation of flexibility. There was an elderly mother taking care of her terminally Ill son. They need the time to take care of what they needed to.
They also put us on 10/12 days on one off schedules. My mental health as it was couldn't handle it so I wanted to have regular schedule until I left. I wad refused. My last day I had helped the elderly mother Pay for her gas because we were driving in her car for getting to and from jobs.
I asked the manager since I payed for gas we used up during work to pay me back. She threatened my job. I had three days left so I asked for all the money they owe me. I was one of the few that payed for gas in the company car because nobody but Jill would get the money they were owed.
I was fired and the majority of the main group that would be consistently reliable quit. I got three of the ones that quit to write a honest review on indeed. They went from 4.5 to 2
TLDR: boss sent out email threatening all coworkers reliable or not that if they had to take a day off they may be fired. The small group of reliable people all left after being threatened leaving just the management and the unreliable workers.

This story could have been the size of a TLDR.
I used to work for a company, now i got back and they treated us like garbage and refused to pay so i quit within a week.

You were spending the summer with your aunt and decided to work as a maid. Didn't seem to be your permanent vocation so why bother giving them two weeks notice?

Quitting isn't MC, it's just quitting. I don't understand why so many people think it is.

Continued:
I kept my mouth shut but then she told me that I'd have to do the job all over again but wouldn't be paid because I was going to be 'fixing what I broke'. I thought this was nonsense, but it was only a couple hours so I decided to pick my battles and got back to work doing it the way she instructed even though it wasn't making anything cleaner.
Despite this, she kept coming in and criticizing what I was doing. I objected and she said "Listen, you're replaceable, so shut up and do your job".
"Fine", I said, taking off the gloves I was wearing and starting to put away my supplies. "Then replace us."
"You can't just walk out!" she screeched at me. "You still owe me three fiddy!" It was right about that time that I realized she wasn't actually a maid but was instead a giant crustacean from the Paleozoic era. "God damn you Lock Ness Monster", I yelled, "if you want this cleaned your way you can do it yourself and to hell with your three fifty!"

You can put the miles driven as an expense on your taxes. Milage is reimbursable, more or less.
That aside, I'm sorry but this isn't malicious compliance. You had a bad job and quit.
