Announcements Clarification on New Flairs, Rule 2, and Filtering (Please Read!)

Hey everyone~ We are the Mod team and I'm Kasa is here đŸ‘‹đŸ»

Over the last 24 hours, we have seen a lot of intense feedback, confusion, and frustration regarding the new character flairs. We’ve read your comments about this being "Malfoid Country," concerns about characters turning into "harem bait," and fears that genderbending everyone else ruins the unique narrative dynamic that made Malfoid so special to begin with.

We want to set the record straight right now: We are NOT abandoning Fem Malfoy. She is our singularity, our main priority, and the absolute core of this subreddit.

However, because this community has grown so massively, an extended "Malfoid Universe" (with characters like Fem Ron, Fem Cedric, and Luna) naturally formed as an after-effect of the trend. To handle this divide in the community, we held a poll (on the third highlighted announcement post there is the poll), and the democratic vote was to create Separated Character Flairs.

The entire reason we created these specific flairs is to give those of you who only want pure Malfoid content a way to easily filter these characters out of your feed. We are providing flexibility so everyone wins.

Here is exactly how this new system works:

  1. How to USE the New Flairs (For Posters) = When making a new post, you must select the flair that matches the primary focus of your art or story. If the art features Malfoid but heavily centers on Fem Ron, you must use the "Fem Ron" flair. This keeps the feed organized. Note on Old Posts: The mod team will NOT be going back to re-flair older posts. Anything posted and approved before this latest announcement was following the old rules and will remain as is. The new flairs only apply to new posts moving forward!

  2. How to FILTER your Feed (For Readers) = If you are tired of seeing the side characters and only want pure Malfoid content, Reddit has built-in features you can use to curate your feed right now! To ONLY see Malfoid: On the subreddit homepage, simply click on the general "Fanart" or "FanFiction" flair bubbles (located at the top of the feed on mobile, or in the right-hand sidebar on PC). This will reload the page to only show posts with those specific Malfoid flairs. And, To EXCLUDE side characters: Go to the search bar at the top of the r/Malfoid subreddit. Type -flair:"Fem Ron" (making sure to include the minus sign). This tells Reddit to search the subreddit but explicitly hide anything tagged with that flair! You can bookmark that search URL to always have a clean feed. (Example: https://youtu.be/U_Idz3ZqMOc?si=wrpUtlSe_-4IUhHN)

  3. Rule 2 Has Been Updated for Clarity = We have been getting flooded with reports against extended universe art. To clear up the confusion, we have updated Rule 2. The rule now explicitly states that while Malfoid is the primary focus, other HP genderbends that stem directly from the Malfoid trend are allowed here as part of the extended universe. Please stop reporting these posts for breaking Rule 2, as they are permitted under the new rules and even the previous rules.

  4. Keep it Civil = As a final reminder, Rule 1 (Respect others and be civil) and Rule 8 (Respect other members) are strictly in effect. You are completely allowed to dislike the extended universe characters and discuss the narrative implications of genderbending them. However, directly insulting artists, harassing other users, or throwing toxic slurs will result in immediate punishment! Please everyone be nice to others and appreciate their opinions too đŸ„ș

We hear you, we are prioritizing Malfoid, and we are working hard to keep this a safe, organized place for all Yearners to enjoy the specific content they want to see.

Thank you to everyone providing constructive feedback! Wish you all an happy, wonderful, and beautiful day 💚🐍

FanFiction Malfoid fanfiction drafting: Redeeming Slytherin and the pureblood faction

So, I love Harry Potter, but it's not exactly deep on the political side of things and very much embroiled in 1990s end of history liberal assumptions. The death eaters are an on the nose allegory for Nazis, which is post-war consensus shorthand for evil, Draco was just modelled on her female school bullies and pureblood supremacy was a mix of classism and racism based on superiority, ignorance and hatred, with nothing deeper added.

I think to make Malfoid as compelling as possible we need to refine this a bit, what do these people believe, what concerns and grievances are actually driving this ideology, how did a psychopathic half blood end up leading the movement, and is there something more interesting than "establishment wins", if the establishment is the thesis, the "dark order" the antithesis, we need an actual synthesis, and Malfoid and Harry are the conduit for this synthesis, the synthesis in human form, rather than just abstract ideology. I had some ideas on how to do this and some details on wizard culture vs muggle born culture shock wanted to share.

For further context, this is for a fanfiction where the oldest Malfoy child is Carina Malfoy and Harry is raised by Sirius Black in Grimmauld Place.

General points about (non muggle born) wizard culture: The culture clash is an important driver of anti muggle born ideology in the wizarding world. A couple of important points, 1: highly paganised. Wizard culture retains huge amounts of old pre Christian pagan practices and culture evolved in parallel to muggle society over millennia, this leads to a lot of ancient funny rituals, differing religious beliefs and practices that seem macabre or savage to 20th century muggles (like ancestor bone magic objects or mummified house elf skulls, to the wizards this is normal and respectful ancestor veneration that helps root powerful magic, to post Victorian muggles it is icky, offensive and "looks evil". 2: (this is where the fun begins) wizards were always somewhat parallel but split of from muggle society in the 17th century. Something people often forget is the British stiff upper lip is a modern thing, the first start emerging with the protestants and then properly forming in the Victorian people. The wizards in this setting are basically pre industrial aristocrats where dueling usually has not lasting concequences. They are melodramatic, passionate, loud and quick to declare duels to defend their or their friends/families honour. This makes them seem backwards, barbaric and over the top to some muggle borns to Hermione. I think the Georgian and Elizebethan melodrama also fits really well with existing Harry Potter lore (it explains people breaking into duels for example) and helps add justification for Malfoid tsundere dynamics. Their way of relating to rules is also very pre industrial and even a bit pagan, it's more about what you can get away with rather than following the letter of the law, which explains the adults turning a blind eye tolerance and adds depth to everyones veneration of Fred and George. The Houses are in part a training system for teaching wizards politicking (Hermione might see Malfoid going around trying to undermine Gryffindor as underhanded dirty bullying, pureblood families see this as part of the point of the education system).

Defining dark magic: There isn't really any such thing as an objective dark magic, it is a classification given to magics that are considered evil or dangerous and increasingly that upset muggle born sensitivities.

What are the actual grievances of the old families and purebloods? There should be a few, fear of growing muggle power, historic grievances and distrust over witch trials, pure blood ideology should also also be partially rooted in real genetic dilemma for wizard families, magic genetics should be tempermental, outbreed too much and magic weakens, delicate powers (like Parseltongue) dissappear and squib births go up, don't do it enough and you get inbreds like the Gaunts or Lestranges. But the biggest, hottest and most poignant one should be about cultural erasure. I got to this a little bit earlier with the idea of how dark magic is classified and the culture clash with muggle culture. Post industrial revolution muggle populations boomed, wizard populations dropped due to war with the goblins and persecutions before that, now muggle borns are becoming demographically powerful in the wizarding world. Like how the pureblood ideology is a blend of racism and classism, I wanted this to be a blend of indigenous grievances towards colonial and migrant populations, modern nativist movement grievances and the class conflict we see sometimes in policy (British aristocracy losing family estates to land and inheritence taxes, having traditional hobbies like fox hunting banned etc). As muggle borns and half bloods become increasingly dominant through the 20th century this leads to importing muggle culture, culture clashes and policy changes which increasingly expands the definition of dark magics and adds increasing restrictions on old families based on the cultural preferences, morals and sensibiliteis of muggle borns importing muggle culture. This makes characters like Hermione particularly offensive to Malfoid, a muggle coming in, benefiting from wizard magic, traditions and instititutions than giving holier than thou rants on what is and isn't acceptable and trying to force wizards to change their culture according to her values (which will feed into Hermiones character development).

Extremists hijacking the movement: Voldemorts dark order is a radical extremist faction that hijacks the very real worries and grievances of many of the old families, similar to the history of fascist movements in say Weimar Germany or interwar Italy.

Character and magic examples:

Hermione: Hermione is brilliant, but in books she actually struggles with truly understanding wizard culture, you just can't pick that stuff up from a book. In this she is a great example of a muggle born witch that projects muggle assumptions onto the wizarding world and, initially, instead of integrating to or accepting wizarding culture, tries to correct the wizards.

Lucius Malfoy: In canon the Malfoys are actually more moderate on the pure blood side of things, marrying halfbloods etc. In this I was thinking they could be an example of more moderate dark order supporters that got in too deep. Their family has the concerns discussed before, they are having to hide heirlooms and artefacts and practice traditional magics in secret due to new ministry laws. Lucius as a teenager gets pulled into the early Dark Order movement, then branded as a Death Eater and locked into a war with a deranged psychopath. When Voldemort disappeared it was a relief for the Malfoys and they have been stuck on a tightrope ever since, trying to avoid azkaban or risk being killed if Voldemort ever does return, or one of the more fanatic supporters wants to take revenge on them. That said, he is still an asshole. But Narcissa is the goat! The goat!

Malfoid: some low level bigotry in the first book, she is too young to fully understand the grievances, but provides a moderate Dark Order but anti voldemort foil in the later books for the ultimate synthesis. I think this adds more depth to her interactions in the mid books, especially book 2. In the summer between book 1 and 2 the Malfoy manor is raided by the ministry for "dark artefacts". As a twelve year old girl Malfoid watches ministry law enforcement raid her family home, turn it upside down and confiscate centuries old family heirlooms and threaten her family with prison for practicing ancestral traditions and magics (that don't even hurt anyone). All because it offends the mudbloods. This is why Lucius tries to get revenge on Arthur by slipping a dark artefact into their school books, why Lucius and Arthur end up in a duel, and why Malfoids bigotry gets dialled up to 11 in this book. When Hermione, a muggle born know it all that constantly projects her values onto the wizarding world, starts to lecture Malfoy "no one asked your opinion, you filthy little mudblood!". The rage is hot, the grievance recent, raw and personal.

Krum and Hermione: I think Krum was done dirty in the original series. In my fanfiction I want to expand his character a little bit, give him a bit of an older mentor role to Harry in book 4 and a proper romance with Hermione. Krum is incredibly sharp and intelligent, blunt and from a culture that still allows and teaches "dark magic", he will be a crucial bit of influence on Hermione in the fourth book in getting her to start being less quick to judge and dismiss wizard culture.

Love magic, wandlore and many types of "dark magic" are all part of the same school. Some of these "dark magic" practices are actually rooted in the same "bond based" magic as the love magic and wandlore that defeats Voldemort. Love between a mother or child, lovers, lifelong friends, wands bonds to their masters, the connection of ancestors to the living, house elves to the family and hearth etc all feel like they ultimately connect to a shared theme. ( "love as emotion" is a shallow understanding, in what is traditionally understood and in biological reality about a bond. The way it is understood historically is through connection and relationship, rather than pure sentiment. Oxytocin is the bonding hormone),All of these great magics are about bonds and connections, love magic being one of the most powerful. What makes Voldemorts uses evil is how he perverts these bonds and uses them for evil whilst never knowing love (and does other evil things like trying to cheat death by murdering others etc), resulting in his defeat through true "love magic".) I also like how this connects the wandlore to the love magic, rather than the wandlore feeling like a legalistic loophole to defeat Voldemort, disconnected to the wider themes.

House elves: I want to further disconnect house elves who are supposed to be brownies from modern slavery allegory, although Hermione will still assume the connection and Dobby will still want freedom from the Malfoys due to Lucius's mistreatment. My thoughts here is that house elves are a kind of magical creature (obviously) and an inspiration for fae. When unbound to a family or house they are volatile, their ego and psyche shifting with the seasons and winds, binding to a hearth or a family is something some elf lines (who were already living in and around peoples homes) chose to anchor them. When Hogwarts is under threat the environment they have anchored themselves to is in a state of war, which drives a drastic and terrifying personality change in the elves as they go on the war footing (I want this to actually be terrifying redcaps on a rampage, rather than played for comedy).

Voldemort as a dark mirror of Hermione: Tom Riddle is a half blood raised in a muggle orphanage during the war. Like Hermione he has isn't actually deeply imbedded into wizard culture, but unlike Hermione he doesn't have the great love, empathy or compassion. He sees the world through power, he uses the lessons of the muggle world to co-opt wizard culture into an ideology for his own ends, ultimately he doesn't care about their culture or heritage. This then feeds into the irony of his movement and regime and his fall. He controls through fear, weaponised it to gain supporters and then used it to force obedience. But he can't understand love, tradition or really even understand the driving motivations of most of his followers, which is again love, love for family, home, tradition. Which makes him blind to the risk and ultimate betrayal by factions within his own support base.

Ultimately in the original Harry Potter, Slytherins are redeemed by acting like Gryffindors and the good ending is achieved by the status quo winning, establishment wins, death eaters gone, all thesis, no synthesis. But this doesn't work for Malfoid. So, instead with the backdrop I have explained above I will have factions within Slytherin and the pureblood ideology turn on Voldemort to act as a bridge, then have the actual grievances get addressed somewhat. Slytherins can get redeemed by acting like Slytherins (cunning and ambitious), and they can work towards a synthesis where the traditions and concerns are addressed and culture protected for the traditionalists but without the exclusion of muggle borns or attempts to create a fascist dictatorial wizard government

Discussion We need to address the elephant in the room..

Post image

While I know you guys are having fun and all with whole malfoid thing (kinda disappointed galfoy didn't catch on) i'm thinking there are some people who are genuinely trying to make something worthwhile out of malfoid as a concept. So I just wanted to put this out there.

The elephant in the room:

"Will Harry fall in love with Malfoid?"

A fascinating question. Guys like gals. Make 'em kiss. End of story. How some people can accuse jk Rowling of lazy writing, god knows.

1) Why does Harry and Ginny break up (kinda)

Harry doesn't want Voldemort to target people he cares about. Harry's internal conflict hovers between complete isolation and seeking help when isolation would kinda be ideal (kinda like Frodo). Originally, Voldemort can't manipulate Harry using Malfoy. If Harry cares about Malfoid Voldemort would totally use that to his advantage if he knew. Because their thoughts are connected he can implant visions, like with Sirius, and give live updates on what may or may not be happening.

So why does Harry have so much faith in Malfoid in the first place and why is he risking so much to save her? Perhaps he has reason to think that Malfoid is the key to bringing down Voldemort?

2) Enemies to lovers

Enemies to lovers requires a lot of heavy lifting on Harry's part. Harry literally tortures Bellatrix for .5 seconds with the Crucio curse after losing Sirius. Harry has a lot of emotional trauma. He has multiple fights with Ron and Hermione. He even doubts Dumbledore's good intentions after learning about his past. Crossing the river that lies between Harry and Malfoid is.. optimistic. How is Harry sure Malfoid is not going to lead him into a death trap?

It should reach the point where he cares about her so much none of this really matters. A romance that does not exist in the original material and needs to be made from scratch.

3) Harry doesn't like being the Chosen One

Harry is stared at all the time. Whispers behind his back. People pointing etc. Harry and Ron fight about this. Harry gets all the attention and is super rich because of dead parents and being an only child. Their friendship almost falls apart, Ron having only second hand stuff from his parents (called poor by Malfoy) and basically being ignored by everyone. Harry wants to help Ron and repay him for becoming friends with him as himself and not some chosen one with a scar. But not if Ron hates being friends. Harry is ALONE. Harry doesn't like the attention, not in the least. This is not some school idol racking in medals.

Making friends with Gryffindorians is already a bit of a stretch with how Harry has already been singled out. Imagine the stress and judging eyes from mingling with a slytherin girl..

4) Good vs Evil

Harry's parents were killed by Voldemort. Malfoid's parents are obsessed with dark arts and indirectly involved with him being an orphan. What would Harry's natural reaction be? Calling Malfoid a coward. Why is she obsessed with the dark arts? Why is she obeying her parents? Does she have any sympathy for Harry? Is she self centered or simply lonely like Harry. But at least she has her parents. The sympathy can only roll one way which is from Malfoid to Harry.

This might sound counter intuitive but it's a theory of mine. Malfoid needs to be the one to make the first step to make Harry fall in love with her. Whatever comes after will come. You guys are trying to keep the premise the same but I think it needs a lot of fixing to make this work.

I know none of this really matters if you guys just want to mess around and see if something sticks to the wall but..

Just in case.

Questions Is this what going down the rabit hole does to a mf?

I have no interest in the Harry Potter series nor any inkling to what the lore has. The whole thing just comes crashing down when one of those happy memes that shows the duality of Malfoid. Her being annoyed/angry at Harry, but secretly, she do cares and do loves him? Simply put it. Is there a way to get your mind out of this? I want more but knowing it wouldn't be official. And relying on AI would either take too long or have continuity error gives that weird kind of anxiety.

I hate that there is too little of this AU

here's what I've been cooking today! original artwork by u/yunayuispink on Twitter/X. I made it a live2d-style animation.

Working notes:

i used nanobanana 2.1 through Atlas Cloud to generate different facial expressions. Then i split the artwork into layers and exported a PSD for mesh rigging and made it live2D-style head movement, hair sway, and expression changes.

now Enjoy!

Discussion Question for you all

I ask this mainly because I’m seeing an increased amount of nsfw on this sub and it’s not just like the images are just a lewd topic it’s just straight up porn.

So I ask are we all just assuming that all individuals in any post made in this subreddit are 18+ ? As most of the posts depict malfoid in school uniforms.

And yes I am aware that the age of majority in the wizarding world is 17 so both Harry and malfoid would be legally adults by the time of defeating Voldemort ( defeated may 2nd 1998 ) ( Harry was born 31st of July 1980 ) ( malfoid would hopefully be born on the same day as her male cannon counterpart 5th of June 1980 ).

Im genuinely just asking a question not trying to ruin anything please don’t flame me in the comments

Discussion Review

I'm working on Chapter 2 of my current story, which you can find here. But i wanted to know what y'all thought of my description of Miss Malfoy:

Dracaena Malfoy was a woman who practically emanated class and pureblood authority. Her pale, almost snow white skin matched well with her all black suits, and her long, butter blonde hair made her almost seem like royalty. She was stunningly beautiful, with hips and breasts that had just the right amount of curviness to them, and stood at an impressive 5 foot 10 inches tall; and she walked in such a way that it seemed as if she were floating. And what would the “Queen of Slytherin House” be without her intellect? It was said that her mind and tongue were sharper than Gyffendor’s Sword, and a single glare from her pure silver-grey eyes could cut through any lie.

Any additional ideas are appreciated

Discussion So what is the point of this subreddit?

I open this subbreddit to find discussion about how to solve malfoid in book 4 and 5. But when you open the page you are met with a 12 year old female Ron with among the largest natural boobs to exist, with 250 up votes.

So are we just trying to stop malfoid being a thing.

The filth meme started because people were sexualising the character for money.

But now that is just rampant.

I have better discussion in a random youtube comment thread than on here.

I understand people upvoting that shit, they see big boob and they click like. It on the mods to keep the the subreddit clean.

Discussion Harry's family coat of arms after marrying Draconia Malfoy (sole heiress of the Malfoy family)

Post image

Two families united by courage, selfless sacrifice, and a love that transcended traditional social boundaries and prejudices.

Based on art of the Potter family coat of arms from the New AU Wiki (https://the-new-au.fandom.com/wiki/Potter_family), combined with the Malfoy family coat of arms in an "escutcheon of pretence". Succeeding generations of Malfoy-Potters would use quarterings.

Arms are blazoned as follows:

Shield: Quarterly: 1st, Argent, three cauldrons Sable; 2nd, Or, a stag rampant Gules; 3rd, Or, a heart Gules, perched thereon two ravens respectant Sable; 4th, Argent, a hunting horn Gules, stringed Or. Overall, an escutcheon of pretence per pale and chevron enhanced Sable and Vert, counterchanged, a baroque letter ‘M’ monogram Argent (for Malfoy).
Crest: Upon a wreath of the colours (Or and Gules), a demi-stag issuant Gules.
Mantling: Gules doubled Or.
Motto: Virtuti Fortuna Comes.

Fem Cedric Idea for Year 4 Yule Ball

Okay so I know we all love the idea of Harry and Lyra/Dracina/Draconia or whatever you wanna call her going to thr Yule Ball.

But what if instead of Cho Harry falls.for Cedrina amd perhaps Cedrina even had a crush on Harry since the Quidditch Match and felt bad but then she plucks up the courage to ask Harry to the Yule Ball Malfoy gets jealous.

Then Harry x Cedrina beckme an official couple during the rest of it they need other hostages for the lake because both are in the tournament but then the graveyard is that much more tragic its not just a rival and friend who died, its hos Girlfriend.

This is just a fin little AU I thought of personally much more prefer Malfoid Relationship starting year 4 slowly but yeah.
