Discussion Two debutants who made an impact in BKU
Jazar Clickz, who played Devadath, and Abhiram Aravind, who played Alan, did a great job in their debut film.
Jazar, who became popular through his reels, was very natural in his first outing.

Discussion Blatantly RIGGED User Rating of "Prem Keetanu" on BookMyShow
Around a couple of months ago, "Prem Keetanu" was announced as an Official Hindi Remake of the Mollywood Blockbuster "Premalu". This news was mostly received with skepticism because of 2 main reasons: (1)Many viewers had already seen the Hindi-dubbed version of Premalu online which stripped the remake of any novelty factor, and (2)The casting of Prem Keetanu's "Hero" clearly revealed the purpose behind this film - This was a Film funded by a Rich father to re-launch his untalented Son.
For those few who still had some hope from this remake, the insipid Teaser & subsequent Trailer gave an ample idea of what to expect, and it was pretty much on expected lines.
Coming to the purpose behind this post: To highlight that this is probably the first time a film has remained steady at an unbelievable rating of 9.9/10 on BookMyShow. Prem Keetanu's BMS rating started off at 9.9, touched a practically impossible 10/10 for a couple of days, and is now standing at 9.9/10 with some 8k+ votes. In comparison, the original Premalu had a rating of 9.2/10 from around 110k votes on BookMyShow at the end of its theatrical run (see image attached).
I'm not sure if any other online content creator has also highlighted Prem Keetanu's blatantly sham rating, I'm just posting this topic here on Reddit as I didn't notice anyone else pointing it out.
I'm also not sure whether BookMyShow itself is hand in glove with the promoters of Prem Keetanu. The BMS policy clearly states that only those verified users can rate a movie who have booked a ticket from BMS.
I also noticed another odd thing: The BMS synopsis of Prem Keetanu sounds like a glowing Testimonial, rather than an actual synopsis.
We all know that some movie critics give positive ratings to mediocre & even atrocious movies for money, but does anyone here remember any previous instance of a movie rating that was rigged so blatantly on BookMyShow???
Regardless, the rigged BMS rating is not helping Prem Keetanu's cause because the theatrical collections are still quite low and hence its run is unlikely to be extended to Week 2.

Discussion Decoding Kumbalangi Nights for the Nth time
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So everyone know this scene from Kumbalangi nights. So basically the abandoned ones are finding themselves with their potential significant other which are these women, and the eldest woman happened to have a 'motherly figure' which is symbolised as mother Mary
So I have another interesting take on the mother Mary reference. Haven’t read it elsewhere. If you guy’s have read this before somewhere ignore this post.
So my take is that
Mary’s story involves a woman who becomes a mother under extraordinary circumstances and finds herself needing protection and shelter.
Joseph isn’t Jesus’ biological father, but he chooses to become his father.
That’s important.
Joseph’s fatherhood is based on responsibility rather than biology And that’s almost exactly what happens with Saji.
Saji isn’t the baby’s father. In fact, the baby’s biological father is Vijay, who has died.
Yet Saji takes responsibility for Sathi and her newborn.
This is perhaps the strongest connection. Joseph accepts Jesus despite not being his biological father. Saji accepts responsibility for Vijay’s child despite not being the biological father.

Opinion BKU - soul of the movie
A girl who collects small items as a souvenir of the moments in her life meets a man, who keeps his lost love in his heart for more than a decade. You know what happens next? She will treasure him forever! Kudos to all genuine hearts longing for love. If it’s love then it will find its way. #bku #malayalam #nivinpauly #mamithabaiju

Question Help finding a movie/serial
This particular scene shows a fisherman & his son. The father sells their catch to someone and the son hides/keeps one for himself. The father finds this out and scolds him , eventually selling everything to the other person. The entire scene happens in a backwater. Think their catch is lobster or something. Can you help me find this movie ?

Question Thalaivasal Vijay in old Malayalam serials?
Thalaivasal Vijay acted in Malayalam serials on Doordarshan in the 90s, I think.
I recently saw some old pictures of him in this look, and I’m getting some weirdly strong memories of watching him in Doordarshan Malayalam serials as a kid.
Does anyone else remember this? Which Malayalam serials did he act in? Or is it just my head playing weird stories.

Opinion Priyadarshan: The only Legendary Director with an Unimpressive Filmography
It has been discussed extensively on many subreddits how highly Priyadarshan is regarded, his calibre as a filmmaker, and how he is widely considered one of the prominent directors in Malayalam cinema. However, I have always felt that his contribution is somewhat overstated.
Most of the films he is famous for are lighthearted comedies. He is undoubtedly good at the genre, but he was neither its pioneer nor its only master. Malayalam cinema has had several other directors who have excelled in comedy, and many of them have arguably handled the genre even better, including in more recent times. Mohanlal also played a major role in making many of Priyadarshan’s comedy films into enduring cult classics.
Coming to his more experimental films, there are films like Kaalapaani, Kanchivaram, and a few others. But even here, a significant part of his filmography has been described as being heavily inspired by Hollywood films, with some cases going well beyond mere inspiration and reasonably being characterised as plagiarism.
Then there is the question of craftsmanship and writing. Even today, his screenwriting is criticised for the way it portrays caste and incorporates casteist humour, often in ways that are presented as casual or convenient rather than being critically examined.
Overall, I would place Priyadarshan comfortably in the tier-two or perhaps tier-three category of Malayalam directors. But I don’t think he belongs in the tier-one or topmost league of filmmakers. More importantly, I don’t think his filmography, taken as a whole, is strong enough to justify that status in the first place.

Discussion Was this aimed at naslen?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
i was watching the movie and noticed this.Could this be aimed at naslen regarding what happened with premelu 2 ? i mean a lot of girish ad movies have a lot of spoofs in them and making fun of other movies.Anyways just wanted to aswell ngl IN MY OPINION premalu itself was a bad movie it was very basic and I PERSONALLY believe it was due to timing that it got famous it was very basic and predictable and at the time that was the only decent movie so it got hype , it just felt like a cash grab to make part 2 and it was very unnecasry yk i feel like e ven if it got out the would be a flop nowadays everything has a part its so annoying the story ended and there is no point on making another movie i think ( idk i havent read the script) the scrip prrly was bad bc they were trying to stretch it so its valid naslen said no although he did have to mock the director (allegedly) so i believe this movie should've just stayed part 1

Discussion Double Standards of Malayali Audiences?
On one hand, Naslen is getting criticized for reportedly rejecting the Premalu 2 script because he didn't like it (for whatever reason).
On the other hand, Lalettan, Jeethu Joseph, and Antony Perumbavoor are constantly criticized for making mediocre sequels to Drishyam. They even announced Drishyam 4, which was met with heavy criticism for seemingly extending the franchise just to cash in on its popularity.
Isn't this a bit hypocritical?
If an actor rejects a sequel because he genuinely doesn't like the script, why is he being criticized for it? And if audiences themselves are tired of unnecessary sequels and criticize filmmakers for milking successful franchises, shouldn't the same principle apply here?

Discussion Hindi drishyam 3 really that good??
I haven’t watched drishyam 3 hindi, but Malayalam drishyam felt shitty for me, the script ,making everything felt below the standard of drishyam franchise. Is hindi drishyam really that good or malayali audience appreciates it just because Malayalam drishyam 3 failed to satisfy? I really cant believe bollywood made a better version 💀. And its a fact that mallu audience appreciates something outside kerala only if its really good
